ecu problem :(

Hi guys

well my "check engine " light is on so i wanted to check 4 the codes. I went to www.vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html to get the procedures.

So here is the problem. I removed the panel then pierced the plastic shield but couldn't see the screw-thingy. I said to myself that maybe it was deeper in the hole so i pushed my flathead screwdriver until it hit something and turned it slowly hoping that it would fall into the screw's socket. But it feels as though there was like a flat surface. I couldn't "feel" the screw inside. Is it normal???

hopefully u guys can help me on this. I don't feel like bringing my car to the dealer and pay them just to check what the codes are.

Any info would really help thanks.

Chuyen.

you should be able to see the screw, plain as day.

at least I know I can... same year car as yours.

Use a flashlight and stick your head under there and look. the screw is about an 1/8" deep, you can definitely see it.

if you pull the plastic panel off, the ecu is directly behind it. it just looks like a metal box. the diagnosis screw is on the left side, which means its towards the engine bay.

does that make sense? its really right in front of you.
