most gains ?? weird when over bumps accelerating help plz! ( =

jus wondering what every 1 thinks is the best gain for/speed/acceleraion for a maxima.. besides turbo kit, supercharger... etc i hear y pipe? is real good...are some much better then others? what kinda sound does it make? does it matter or is it just the name people want.. o yea... when im accelerating if i go over like alittle bump , or like and not flat surface.. feels like my wheels arn't gripping , and it almost feels like i start to bounce ..called my mechanic.. thinks it might be the struts... any ideas?? 1997 max se.. plz help

When I drive off a ramp, it feels like my tires just won't grip.

After you drive over a bump, your car is in the air for a little longer than your tires. Your tires have much less weight on them for that short time, and want to lose traction.
No it isn't your struts. Your mechanic wants your $$$.

Welcome to the org

If you would like to avoid harsh responses like the ones above I would suggest a search (some members prowl for newbies looking to bash them for not searching or just vent some anger.)

To answer your question nitrous is your best bang for the buck.

A y-pipe will not dramatically change the note of your exhaust, all y-pipes are as good as the others. The main difference is what they are made out of and how long that material will last, as well as the strength of the flex section. Any pipe that is on the market should be fine.

You have a front wheel drive car, if you accelerate hard and lose traction (such as in water, from a standing start, or over a bump ) you will notice wheel hop. This is normal. Any other questions just ask (you might PM me or search to save yourself the verbal beating from others.)

Other than that don't rule out any performance modification such as the ones in your posts. If you hang out here long enough you will be getting those at some point anyway. My advice is do it right the first time with performance, and avoid neon, altezzas, wings, graphics and excessive chrome like it is the plague.
