NO START (Yes I have searched!) HELP!

I HAVE SEACHED AND FOUND NO ANSWER! PLEASE HELP!

I have a 1996 Max SE 5sp with 134,000 on it. About a month ago I went to start it (engine was warm) and it just cranked and cranked. Finally after just turning the ignition on and waiting about 10 seconds, it started right up (thinking fuel pump problems). Got it home, shut it off, tried to start it, no start, and this time the sensor light came on. So left it over night.

The next morning, waited again on ignition when cold and it started. Took it to the dealer next day (don’t ask what I was thinking) and of course it started fine, they replaced O2 sensor on rt. Side and sent me on my merry way with the check engine light off. Ever since then I just turned ignition on, waited, 5-10 seconds, and it fired up whether the engine was hot or cold and everything was fine, assuming I was going to have to replace the fuel pump at some point. But after a couple weeks (yesterday to be precise) nothing worked to get it started: I waited, cranked, floored and cranked, and just flooded it—and check engine light came on again! This morning I repeated trying to start it and no luck. This time I checked the codes myself and got 0101 cam position sensor and 0304 the dreaded knock sensor. Assuming I read the codes right, my question is this: I don’t think the knock sensor would cause it to not start (or I haven’t found this searching the org), but I don’t know anything about the cam position sensor. I have searched and saw that the CRANK position sensor (POS) would cause it not to start, but nothing on the cam position sensor. HELP! I have never replaced any sensors on this car (cam, either crank, or knock) and I have noticed that I had some hesitation, so I cleaned the throttle body, and that helped a lot, but did not get rid of all the hesitation around 2000RPMs.

I recently replaced the spark plugs and installed a Stillen intake. I thought maybe I messed something up with the intake, but it ran fine for a month after having it on and no check engine lights came on when I installed it.

Any help would be appreciated. I was planning on getting a cam position sensor first tomorrow and see what happens. Thoughts? Thanks, Aaron

The way I searched was manually scrolling down every post for about an hour, plus I had already bookmarked the posts about max's not starting. I did it the old fashioned way.

0101
You identified DTC 0101 as "upstream oxygen sensor heater or circuit fault." Please double-check this number. My book says DTC 0101 is caused by the Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase). This sensor is located on the engine front cover facing the camshaft sprocket. It detects the cylinder number signal. The Engine Control Module uses this signal to control spark plug firing order and also to sequence the fuel injectors correctly. If the CPS is bad the ECM will fire the plugs at the wrong time, or not fire them at all. This would account for a no-fire symptom.

you are not a good searcher because thst could have been found in the 3rd link in the STICKY that says " Help my check engine light is on"

I must not have written it clearly...the dealer just put in an oxygen sensor...I did not read codes for that...I just read for Cam and Knock sensor...Sorry for the confusion. Aaron
