(belts?) Not for whipping
(belts?) Not for whipping
excuse the subject title but, I am gearing up for a thanksgiving road trip and was changing my oil yesterday and noticed cracks in my belt, so I figured I would change them. I tried to do a search and it wouldn't let me. So can anybody give me some info on how to change the belts. If anybody knows a website that shows something that would be most helpful. Oh yeah, if I was just having a brain fart and the search icon is working then bring on the flaming.

All belts crack ever so slightly. You should see cracks arcoss the top, but evenly spaced just about. Its not a big thing. Its if it has unsual wear marks; like to much wear on one side then the other, missing more then one of the ribs or has a glossy look. Then you should replace. They do last a good while before you need to change them..
Changing them isn't hard at all. You should see a type of idle pulley bolt next to your belts .. It looks like you can fit a socket right on it. All you have to do is loosen that. That'll adjust the main belt. If you do have trouble you might want to invest in a cheap book called Haynes or Chiltons manuals. good luck.
No, sorry no pics.. but you can't miss it the tension idle pulley bolt.. its right next to your timing chain cover on the left side of the engine. It is bronze color looking.. Its stand right out if you looking at the engine from the passanger side.
