It could be battery, starter, bad ground connection from engine to tranny and many other things when did this start how often?

It started recently. The funny thing is the next day it started fine. How could it be the starter if it turns over but won't start. I always thought if it was the starter it would make a whinning noise and/or not even turn over.

I have a similar problem...my 95 maxima se will have trouble starting, itll take a few cranks before itll start and then the car will run fine...but last few mornings it's gotten worse. Now the car won't crank, but all the interior lights, headlights, and radio still work. Is it a faulty battery? fuse?

I've tried a jumpstart and that didn't work, but 5 minutes after I took the cables off...the car started perfectly fine.

Scrubby - consider replacing your cables or at least the terminal connectors(if they're corroded).

Slow96max - It's most likely not your starter. I'd check your plugs and coils... you'd be surprised what that will do for you.

keep us posted

Could it be related to the crankshaft pos. sensor?

Get a digital multimeter and check the voltage when the car doesnt want to start. Also check it when the car is actually on. See if your readings are within normal range. I had a similar problem with an alternator that was about to crap out. Do a voltage check under load (heater on full, defroster on, all lights on, radio on) and see what the voltage is.
