Airbag Light Blinking

Airbag Light Blinking
I just bought my 98 Maxima GLE last week, in near perfect condition. The only problem is that my Airbag light is blinking consistently. I talked to the dealer and they told me it would be a $99 diagnostics fee. Is there any troubleshooting or code reading I can do myself? If so, are there any specific procedures?
Also, this site kicks! I have never had a car with the aftermarket support, and forums that the max has. I love it!

Thats a good question, I just went thru this problem with my 95 Ford Contour. I had a code on that car that said there was a problem with the Driver Side Sensor. Good luck to ya, BTW I would recommend a Search, I know someone is gonna tell ya to do one =) Good luck with the new Max.

You probably set off the sensor under your seat..
Reset:
1. Start the car (Blinking Light)
2. Turn off the ignition.
3. Open your Door.
4. Keep pushing the "Door light" Button (located in the doorway)
push it like 7-15 times real quick...and shut the door.
5. Start the car (Blinking Light should be gone)
6. Repeat this several times (sometimes it doesn't reset the first time)

This worked for me too.

I have tried that procedure several times and it does not seem to be working. Is there any indication that I at least got it to reset, even if i do have a problem and it immediately comes back on? Otherwise, is there anything I can do besides bringing it to the rip off dealership to plug the diagnosis computer in and tell me what it says for $100.
The lady was frank when I asked her why it cost so much. She said that it is because they have the machine and I do not. I think I will be going to another dealer next time.
