Phatom grip LSD
Phatom grip LSD
Ok does anyone have this on their maxima. Yea yea go ahead and say it "SEARCH". But i havent donated to maxima.org yet so I cant use the search feature right now so if someone can cut me some slack and tell me the pros and cons of it if you have one or have experiance with one. I want to get an LSD that is good but I kinda have to use all my tax free money im getting for being here towards other stuff therefore I cant buy a quaife like I would want to. So any input would be appreciated. Thanks
I dont know of anyone with a Phantom Grip LSD on a Maxima. I have read that they are effective. But, some people have raised doubts about the reliability of that setup over the long term. They have concerns about the pressure of the LSD on the spider gears. It could reduce the overall life of the diff by quite a bit.
But, this is all just "what I heard."

Yea well I read up and seen on their website about it, and it looks like all it is, is just an upgrade on the open diff shaft that makes it a limited slip, ive heard good stuff for this with other applications. Maybe ill just pony up the money for the quaife since it is a full limited slip diff setup and not just an add in part, unless someone out there has otherwise proof.
I heard they are pretty good up to about 500 hp. I was reading that some guy in a turbo prelude broke his differential when he did a clutch drop and he had about 450 horsepower. It could of been age of the differental not to mention other factors but he blamed it on the phantom grip.
I am going to get one when I do my turbo setup not sure if I am going to keep my auto yet so thats why I have not bought one.

From what I've heard alot of guys with 240SX's use these instead of getting the factory 300ZX VLSD. They say the VLSD locks up 30% of the time as opposed to the phantom which locks up 40% of the time. Dunno how this will transulate to our differential but figured I'd throw that out there.
