clutch problem

i have a 5 spd 97 max se.
last night, for some odd reason, my clutch was releasing literally 1 inch off the ground and it would engage. i thought it may be a good thing but
this morning, i started my car, but, when i pressed on my clutch, i couldn't put it in first gear. and the clutch wouldn't even come up. it did, but it had a hard time. like the spring was out or something.
anyways....yeah, i cant shift, its like not even pressing on the clutch and trying to put it in gear.
has anyone had that problem?

It's one of your clutch cylinders, or the clutch line. Also I would get a mechanic take a look at it because your trow out bearing might be ****ed up and it caused the clutch to engage like that. It happened to my friend in 240 next day his master cylinder died and clutch just fell to the floor. I would still get someone elses opinion because I'm not an expert on these kind of things. I'm more of the engine guy.

make sure your fluid resevoir is topped off. I had the same problem. It would happen every once in a while. I assumed I was fine on fluid because it was near the "max" line on the resevoir(sp?), but after topping it off the problem went away.

Yes! Definitely check the fluid. We replaced the master cylinder on my buddy's car, but relaized halfway through that the fluid was probably low...I was like "dude don't you check that stuff"...haha. I think the master was indeed bad on that car though.

It's probably your clutch master cylinder, maybe the slave, and check your fluid level before you replace anything.
