i just bought a 96' 5 spd Se and i love it...the guy claims he did the clutch at 75,000 and he is soon to send me a reciet from that(it would make the clutch 10,000 miles old)...a decent guy i trust him...my first day out with it was today and i noticed when i got on the highway a few times and nailed it, it grabbed in first then i shifted it to second taking my foot off of the clutch it would slip...it has done it a few (two) times but it is only when you give it alot of gas(right off the clutch and down on the gas)...i may not be takin my foot off the clutch fast enough and messing something u(cause when it is slipping i let up on the gas and let it grab) bad stuff....or it may be a cheaper clutch....give me some feeback please cause it was the type of guy that just put it in for work at the dealer or a shop and said do it up...it may be a less of grade clutch, cause all around the thing shifts and grabs good and no chatter or wineing or anything....thanks for any feedback..

The key phrase in your description of symptoms is "taking my foot off of the clutch it would slip..." A good clutch will not slip. Slippage could be caused by worn or glazed friction material on the disk, a broken diaphragm spring in the pressure plate, oil contamination, or a defect in the actuator mechanism. It's difficult to know which of these is the real problem without removing the clutch and examining the parts.

By any chance when you barely (and I mean barely) push the clutch, does it seem to disengage right away? Maybe they fooled with the pedal adjustment and now it has zero play and it is always engaging the clutch ever so slightly. Check it out.

If your clutch parts are sub-standard like the Nissan Key Value Clutch kits are, then you could have a new clutch but inadequate holding power. I had a crap Key value kit in my VE maxima, even when brand new, it wouldn't hold for ****. Now w/ my new OEM Nissan clutch parts, it holds much better.

Get the receipt and inspect it to see what type of clutch parts were put in. The most important part is the pressure palte. It must be rated high enough for the torquey VQ. Or call the shop and ask what they put in.

don't take

any chances. I would put a new clucth in the car and bill the guy for not putting in a good enough quality clutch. I think a really good clutch to get is the clutchmasters stage 1 clutch kit. it is a liitle bit under $400.00. That is what i would do because i would not want to take any chances with ny new car so neither should you. http://www.clutchmasters.com
