TPS screw?
TPS screw?
Hi guys,
The TPS has two screws. The left one (toward front of car) is quite accessible, but the right one is really hard to unscrew. I can get to it, but I don't have enough room to exert any force on it. And that is after I remove the two hoses that partially block the screw.
How did you do it? Any trick?
Thanks,
Sam

Be careful, I read posts saying they galled the screw heads trying to unscrew. The right screw is hard to undo. This is what I did. I removed completely the throttle body. That requires disconnecting few vacuum hoses, the 2 tb cables (one for gas pedal, other for cruise), 2 small coolant hoses that go in the tb, 4 bolts that hold the tb to the intake manifold, and maybe a few more. It only takes 20 minutes. Then I jammed the tb in a bench vise (cause I had one, would have worked without), where I had clear and direct access to the screws. Then I was able to apply direct and straight force on a tight fit philips head screwdriver to crack them loose. I had put a few drops of penetrating oil (dont use wd40) and let it work in a minute or so.
Take the opportunity to clean the tb. Reinstall everything and ahhhhhhh satisfaction of another job well done.

Good note.. Thank you for sharing. I tried this one time too and had to stop becuase I almost galled the screw. This should be a writeup somewhere since allot of people have trouble with the TPS.
