i couldn't find a store that sells blue #74 blubs so i just colored it with a blue sharpie. i think it looks pretty good. o yeah... i dont know why it shows up half lit but if you see it in person.. the ring lights up full blue but stronger in one area and its lighter on the other half of the ring.

im assuming the reason its brighter on one edge and not the other is because that is where the bulb is actually located? nissan "shoulda" found a way to refract the light all the way around.
nice job though!

maybe araffio wants to play with some LED's for a full circle

Sean - short version - remove the 4 phillips screws from the underside of the steering column (they are in the corners, but there are also two more that don't need to be removed that are closer to the middle), and the top can be popped right off. Then, I think, the keyring could be lifted right out...

just wondering, are you able to "paint" other bulbs in the car like the window switches, dome light, 194 bulbs etc?

I tried to replace that bulb with a blue LED but they just popped every time they got power. I had the resistor on there and everything. I did everything the same way I did my gauges, it just did not want to work. I just put the stock bulb back in there and called it good.

Anyone have any ideas why it would not take an LED?

well.. the bulb is only on for at least a minute or two max a day.. i doubt it'll get hot and fade. The bulb size is #74. on that link i gave out.. that guy actually bought a blue #74 bulb but they dont have it at any stores near my house so i just colored it and it worked. this was a pretty easy project to do. shouldnt take u longer than 30 minutes top.
