What intake is best for me?

Right now I have a Frankencar intake with K&N filter and Im happy with except the sound. Its a little too loud for me. I noticed that it drives smoother but its just too loud for me when I go WOT. Im thinking about going with an Injen or a Place Racing intake. Which one is going to be quieter or are all intakes loud at WOT? I dont really want to put the stock intake back on because it seemed to drive smoother, or maybe its just me. Which intake should I go with? Thanks.

There all going to be loud (injen, place racing cai, frankencar) vs. stock setup. So switching to one of the others might not provide you with what you are looking for.

I noticed that a foam filter like monsterflow is slightly quieter at WOT than a cotton K&N type.

Is there a sound difference between an Injen and a Place Racing? I dont mind if it is loud but I want it to be more of a low deep growl.

It also depends on which filter you put on. My PRCAI came with a K&N filter, so it's really loud. But over all I would say that PR will be louder then Injen.

I think im going to go with the hacked airbox, any difference with which side i should cut a hole in...the big side that faces the front of the car or the small side which faces the driver side of the car?

yes there is. normally air has to past through silencers and a restricted path. With a giant hole in the side, its just a tube sucking air through a filter...there of course is a noise difference. CAI sucks at high end, HAI sucks at low end, hack your stock box

Is the noise with the hacked airbox going to be close to the frankencar I have now?

Does a CAI only improve the low end, while not affecting high end. Or does it shift the power from high end to low end.

know what I mean?

i know what you mean. it doesnt affect the high end really. It is an easier smooth path of air than stock with a bigger filter, but, long piping makes it less than optimal. you gain low end, its not shifted around
