Is it possible to put a cima motor into a 96 maxima. There is a guy whose knows someone that has a cima motor in their garage in a box sitting there for a while now. He said it has somewhere around 30k on the motor, and looks brand new. He said it also has around 300hp to the crank. I’m not sure that its true but I will believe like 280hp maybe. Don’t those engines come turbo? I asked the guy that lives next to me how much that dude wants for the motor and he said probably $1200. If it can fit I’m definitely putting that engine in my car this summer...

umm the cima(Q45) come wtih 2 engines the VQ30DET( prob one he has) and hte VK45DE

the VQ30DET, people have taken parts from it and put it on our motor. i think they used the current block and added the parts from the DET motor

Im planning to keep my car until it dies, and right now it has almost 92000 on it. So if could put that motor into my car it will be awesome. I will be a hell of sleeper. plus i think i will be the first.

If I remember right...plenty of people have used parts from it. But I doubt a full engine swap would be worth it. I believe the parts used from it were all like internals and stuff, because they're capable of handling more power than the basic VQ30DE.

first reason is that its a rear wheel drive motor. tilley has done it, and basically put it in sideways in his car so it is fwd. Lots of modifications. Like I said though, thats the main reason.

Either way it wouldn't make sense to swap it in at all. Take out the internals that you need and scrap the rest. Either way, from what I've read, the only parts that would make a difference are the dished lower compression pistons. The crank, rods, cams are basically the same. The intake manifold would be worthwhile also, but would not be a direct fit.
