Changing the headlight?
I know there's a write up at vqpower.com. Unfortunately, that site has been down in the last few days.
Does any one know the procedure to remove and replace the headlight? Please post it or email it to me at
mynetsig@yahoo.com
Thanks a lot.

It's pretty simple. On my 95 GLE all I had to do was open the hood and look at the back of the headlight unit. You'll see a grey or black plastic socket that is secured into the housing with a plastic ring. You simply unscrew that ring about a quarter turn and then the whole socket can be pulled towards the windshield, exposing the bulb. Be very careful when installing the new bulbs NOT TO TOUCH the glass part, just the plastic. The high heat of the lamp causes the oil from finger prints to damage the lamp and cause early failure.
I hope this helped!

From Haynes MAnual
1) Disconnect the cable fromthe negative battery terminal
2) Remove the headlight bulb
3) Remove the Radiator Grille
4) Remove the parking light housing
5)Remove the retaining nuts and bolts, detach the housing and withdraw it from the vehicle
6) Installation is the reverse of removal.
Sorry if it isn't very specific, Most of the help is in the pictures in the manual. Hopefully this at least helps you with the order.

removing headlights
I am actually trying to do the same thing. (Remove the headlights to install 97 headlights) The corner light has to come off first and then there are two screws there. There is also a screw for the grill (third screw) and the fourth screw which is below the grill screw, is giving me problems. I cannot get it off due to a metal tube just above it (this is the passenger side). Does any one have any hints on how to remove the 4th screw.

I am having trouble removing the corner light. How did you do it.
I think once the corner is off, everything should fall in place. The grill is pretty straigth forward, just be careful with the snap-on screws. They are easy to break.

The corner light is easy. You just have to know where to push. Having a long flat head screwdriver is best.
There is a small ball joint near the bottom of the light. Push the flathead screwdriver inbetween the joint and turn the screwdriver while pulling on the corner light gently and the light will pop out with no problems.
Using brute force is an easy way to crack your light along with wasting your time. Using a tool and some brains will save you time and money.

Can you be more specific on where the ball joint is?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Can't really be specific, but pulling on the corner a little, you should be able to have enough space to look in the crack between the headlight and the corner. If I remember correctly, it should be in the 3/4 of the way down from the top.
