headlight lens
#1
I recently had my front end hit by some lunatic...and when the body shop fixed it up, only one of the headlights was damaged, so they only replaced that one...
Well anyways, now I have this one really brand new lens that's crystal clear, and this other one that's kinda foggy and dirty. No matter how much you clean it, it's always like that...I think there is some dirt on the inside.
So how would I go about cleaning the lens? Is it even possible?
Cuz right now, my car looks like it has a glass eye

just........
buy another new to "match" there is no way to match a cleaned used item to a brand new one so just buy a new one to match the other new one you should have just done this all at one time replace both lenses

yeah i would have...
but the insurance adjuster will only pay for what was assessed as damaged
and the headlight costs $250 CDN each side
so i dunno..ill ask Nissan if they have just the plastic cover thing.
thanks.

You can find them cheaper on eBay. I bought a pair of brand new 97's (Since they're clearer) for my 95 for $91.00. Of course, that's cuz the seller messed up and didn't indicate that the price was for a single headlight, and not a pair. In any case, it's still cheaper than the dealer.

Matrix, I feel your pain
Hey i just wanted to say Matrix that I feel your pain...I just got my car back about a month ago after a crazy old man ran a red light and slid right in front of me. I too lost one of my headlights, but luckily the other headlight wasn't foggy. You can't really tell too much.
But to answer your post...I don't think that there is much you can do accept buy a new light. I did hear once that if you use brass cleaner on the outside of the headlight it causes some type of reaction that clears the lense. Sounds weird I know but it worked on a buddy of mine's car but I've never tried it. Give it a try at your own risk, but hey if it works it will save you some cash.

I know what you are going through
Man, I know what you are going through.
I have a similar story, although it is with the back light, and it's not foggy, but cracked. I am looking for a new lense, and it's like $115CA. If I hear something about a front lense I'll let you know. And do me a fav., save my *** a lot of cash by letting me know if anyone is selling a rear tail light passenger side! The one that goes one the body, not on the trunk.
These damn plastic lenses cost TOOOOOOO much!!
PS
Where in Canada are you from?

Have you looked here?
Did you try looking for one at a scrap yard?
Maxima's are virtually impossible to find at a scrap yard, at least in the Toronto area, but where ever you are, try your local scrapyards.

i live in Vancouver, CA
and there are so few Maxima owners here, that i could start a club and have them all over at my house
and even less scrap yards for this stuff
I'll just have to look around...it looks REALLY bad too...but i cant help it...
And as for Riot^, when i order my new tails, i can sell you my old ones

good news
Finally some good news on here
Thanx Matrix
I'll keep you posted if I hear anything about the headlight for you!
I am in Toronto and there are quite a few Maximas here, but they are mostly driven by women or old people. Makes me sick!
