i just had my car fully painted a few weeks ago. when i got it back and was putting the MAXIMA letters back on the trunk, i f#$&ed up and they ended up too much to the left. The guys at the body shop are jacking me around right about when to bring it in etc., so i decided to fix it myself.

first question: cuz my paint is only like 3 weeks will it mess up my clearcoat if i remove them? should i wait a bit?

then, how do i get them off without messin the paint by taking chips out?

what kinda glue should i use to put them back on after?

any other suggestions?

 

dont know about how long it takes for paint to cure but for the emblems you buy stuff called emblem tape which is basically 2 sided 3M tape. buy the black kind that is really thin. Instead of just ripping off the emblems use dental floss and saw it off and clean the remaining tape using wd-40. put a hair dryer to it if it still sticks. Personally I think it looks more cleaner and better with no emblems at all.

i dont think the guys at the shop used any tape: it was sone kinda glue which he spread with a little brush. will that come off just as easily as the tape youre talking about? i hope it duznt strip the paint.

if i buy that tape when i put them back on after, is it thin enuf to fit behind the thin letters like the 'I' and not show from behind?

i have a heat gun at home: do u think the glue will come off if i heat it enuf?
