The PIAA's are ricey, not that yellow, and insanely overpriced. The Narvas are the only 85W yellow foglight bulbs that have lasted anything close to a reasonable amount of time (~1 year) in the stock housings for me. I recommend them, but if you get them and like them make sure you order a couple spares before they burn out...very annoying when one goes.

for using film on the lense? well its just like redding out the corners (read the FAQ for that). im not sure but i think you do it to the outside of the lense not the inside. not sure about it but ya hafta go look into that. just go to your local hobby store and pick up translucent yellow film. take out fog and bulb, wash lense with soapy water, let soapy water drip down, then apply film onto sopay water, use something flat like credit card and push out all the airbubbles and water, then use heat gun to dry it and stick it. i actually wanted to do it but cant due to some circumstances. 3M has a protective film you can use ontop of it to protect it from scratches or somthing like that.

anyone else care to explain better? im not 100% sure anyways.

I noticed on suvlights.com that the rally golds are 85 watts. Did you have to upgrade anything before installing?

The Hella Yellow stars were short lived, but produced BY FAR the best yellow light of any bulbs I ahve tried when they were still made in Germany. They are now manufactured in Korea and the quality is way down. I ordered like 6 of them after having used the German ones for a long time, put a set in and one burned out in **less than a week**. The color is also not as good as it used to be. In short, they were good, but they are now garbage.

As far as the PIAA's longevity, I have no idea. I had them in for a few weeks and took them out when I got the Narvas...I jsut wasn't satisfied with them at all.

no need for replaceing anything in the fog.. the wiring has held up well..its not as cheese as the headlight wire harness. no idea if the last longer than canlde power.. im on my first set of narvas.. i will get another set when.if these ever blow out. ive had them for about 6 months with no problems.

some have reported cracked lenses from the 85 bulbs making the glass too hot.. when they hit a puddle.. the sudden cooling makes the glass crack.. has not happened to me.. i drive with them on all the time.. never had a crack..somethig to think about.

i still recommened narva.

i tried the hella yellow star from korea.. they suck ballsss..no yellow.. they jsut look liek dirty halogen.i have a set for free if you want them.jsut pay me for shipping.

Couldn't you just buy transparent paint like you do for the tail lights, and actually paint the stock bulbs?

lexus uses a pod or convex projector lense that has a thin larye of yelow paint or film on it. that pod/lense goes around or in front of the a normal white fog bulb.. i guess u could try and make it fit, but youd have to be pretty creative. i looked into the project a while ago, but gave up. lexus owners make their fogs white or super white by sanding the paint or film off the projector lense. then puttig back on. so i couldnt get a set of lenses from them. i asked around the lexus forums. u try.

if u paint the bulbs, the pait will burn off in like 15 secs..pointless to try..

the first gen TL's and 2nd gen integ had yellow fogs. i dont know if those use a pod or film or if the bulb is yellow.. try checking that out.

wow that was long.

It makes you car more visible in the fog and I think they make a nice contrast with you headlights, especially if you have HIDs.

i like them on certain cars (hate to use a played out example, but ae86, especially panda paint, or 240...more square/older and drift cars) but never loved them on the maxima. I remember a 3rd gen with m3 projectors and yellow fogs...looked so awesome. with white corners, and bright headlights, i think VERY yellow fog lights look good as contrast, but Max Noob's car with all that orange isnt my thing (sorry Max Noob, i just needed an example )

its cool man.. everyones got their own style.. i just happened to like the amber and not super whites. to me blueish headlights and superwhites are kinda ricey.. and superwhite fogs and headlight and corners never match up well and look out of place. plus ill never get pulled over for my headlights.... but to everoens own right?

I ditched my PIAA superwhites when one blew. They are ****ty bulbs anyway...they give off less light then conventional headlight bulbs. All the silverstars and that stuff are crap...they DO look good IMHO, but they do not perform as well. Right now I am running Sylvania Xtravisions and liking them much better than the PIAA's in terms of performance. People should check this out when it comes back online...dude is the king of automotive lighting...

http://lighting.mbz.org/faq/FAQ.html

I still have my orange corners too...never liked clear turn signals on Green Maxes...and a lot of the maxes around here with them are mad ricey anyway...don't want to be associated with that. So basically I am more or less semi-stock looking except for yellow fogs which are much better than white for actual fog.

Having your foglights go whiter renders them even more useless as actual "fog" lights... they would function just as a second set of headlights, in essence.

Yellow light has a longer wavelength compared to white light and hence is better for fog visibility. So there is a functional advantage to it.

(or is it shorter wavelength... but you get the idea)

The lower you go on the colour spectrum (red being the very lowest, the better fog visibility it will have). You might ask, why not get that in your headlights then? Headlights however are different because you want them to be brigher and a shoter wavelength for lighting up the road better.
