this is actually one of my first questions i had when i entered the org. O/D, as stated above, kicks in the 4th gear. Correct me when im wrong, but if you're stuck in traffic and turn it off, it will be a little smooth...same goes w/a street w/ many stop signs or whatnot. But when u go over 40, turn it on and you'll feel it kick into 4th....

my opinion is: if you do not know about O/D, just keep it on and let the trany work itself.

I don't see how turning O/D off when you're stuck in traffic would change it at all? I usually put mine in 1 if I'm stuck in traffic, not only do you stop the constant changing, but it helps with stopping so you don't have to use the brakes as much I usually use O/D when I want to accelerate and overtake a slower car, a) because it gives me quick acceleration and b) because I'm addicted to the feeling of being pushed back into the seat

hmM.. lets say you're already going and in 4th gear. then you feel the urge to downshift to pass someone.. would it be faster to just gas it and let it downshift for you or would it be faster for you to turn it off so it'll go to 3rd and then gas it?

Driving with the O/D off locks out fourth gear. So technically you can make our four speed automatic into a 3 speed automatic. Hmmmmm

WEll the only time I turn it off is when I down shift to slow down, pass some one up, screw around on the street and at the track. At the track I shift with the drop-resistor mod like so...

At the stages I floor it through...with the o/d off....2 to Drive to O/D on.... Works pretty well...I think it gives you more control on where you shift gears...

just leave it on. All this talk of shifting manually or leaving OD off or on is so BS.

I believe the only time when turning O/D off makes a differences is creeping at a slow speed. With O/D on you might take off on 2nd but with it off you would take off in first but this is something I haven't checked nor care.
