Got a keyless entry remote "?"

Going back to my brother in law, he got a Maxima SE recently. Nice looking car, had a problem with the sound setup but other than that...Anyway, the car came with just a key and no remote. When he locks the door, the "SECURITY" light goes on (blinks red or stays on red). He is worried that since it didnt come with a remote, what happens if the alarm goes off and how does he turn off the alarm? Of course I am a big ebay fan myself and suggested him maybe buying a used Maxima remote and programming it but I wanted to check here first to find out if that is a "Can do!" Thanks for any info!

BTW, what would he do if the alarm happened to go off? How would he turn it off?
