Rearview mirror removal

I would like to remove my rearview mirror. I am 6'-7" and I have to duck at a stop sign to see if anyone is to my right.

I have tried loosening the phillips head screw at the back of the mirror, but all that did was loosen the mirror; it didn't actually come off. I didn't want to force it off the hanger from the headliner....

Do I have to remove the headliner mount? I want to keep it on for my parking hangtag.

Thanks for the help

Ok I took a look at my mirror and you will have to remove the headliner mount to get it off, but you will be stuck with a triangle of missing headlinger (you will know what I am talking about as soon as your remove the mirror).

At the base of the mirror where it meets the headliner there is a cover you will need to pop it off. Once off there are three screws you will need to remove before the entire mirror and shaft come loose.

About your parking pass, I saw wedge it between the windshield and the headliner. I have no ideas on how to cover up the patch where your mirror was mounted.....
