hey guy/gals,
First let me say that even though there is some racing in this thread i need to tell the racing story for my problem to be stated. I was driving back home on the parkway going north towards paramus, and as i pass by the essex county toll plaza i see this brand new 3 series with these large as tires on it and i think to my self that this guy is just slowing me down so i try to go around him... Little did i kno that those large rear tires and 4 exhaust tips were there for a damn reason. But it still didnt click to me that this was an m3 and for the brief second that i got in front of him i thought that i had a fast car. then all of a sudden he goes flying by. and i mean, he went by me like i was sitting still and i was trying my hardest to keep up wit him. as he went flying by off into the distance i saw the badge on the rear of his car, and wat did it say, M3. but for reason i didnt feel like giving up on chasing him. we went back and forth chasing each other until i got into the lead when he got blocked in by a car and the weirdest thing happened to my car. i was in forth gear and going close to 115 and when it was getting close for the time for me to shift my gas pedal lost all feeling to it. I've never drivin a car where i was close to the speed limiter so i thought maybe my gauges were wrong and that i missed a shift, so i threw it into fifth and got back on the gas and it happened again. the only time that i did get in front of him my cars speed limiter makes me look really bad as the guy in the m3 went flying by.i new i wasnt going to beat him but i wanted to atleast put up a fight. so we both got off the exit and went our seperate ways but i wasn't really sure wat happened to my car at 115-120mph. was it the speed limiter? and if so y did it come so damn early? and if its not then wat do u guys think that it could have been?

Ohh and im sorry for the racing story but i felt that i needed to explain y i was going so fast. and sorry for it being so long

 

i hear ya man i was racing down te highway and i hit about 110 or 115 and it came on and my car almost spun out casue i was in a turn when i hit the limiter, im gonna get a chip soon and get my limiter removed. so my questions is when does the dam thing supposed to kick in, and why does it kick in earlier on some of our cars.

 

now u know that those fart cans on civics are NOT the worst exhaust systems out there when it comes to sound.

it sounds like you have a GXE with a speed limiter. follow ben's instruction and remove your speed limiter.

p.s. you can also buy a'pexi rev/speed meter to remove your speed limiter as well.

 

maxima98vspec is your car stick, because i almost lost control of my car also when i was driving because i was entering a turn. alsoi would like to kno y mine came on so early?

 

i thought that gxe only came automatic? cause my car is a stick ( i gots 5 forward manually selectable gears)

 

Only the GLE came only automatic. SE and GXE were 5-speed as a standard option.

 

Mine comes on when I hit about 120mph. When I bought my ride I was told by the punk salesman that mines was gle however i was educated by the org that the gle only comes in auto and mine must be a gxe. hence the limiter. there was a thread on here somewhere when a guy hooked up a toggle switch to turn his limiter on and off. sounds like a saturday project to me. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

 

yea mine is stick also, and i think my governer kicked in at 108 when i did it, and i droped my b@lls when it happen.
