I went there to read up and saw that the Cefiro (a.k.a i30) has a rb20det as an engine over there. Seeing how the SR20DET can get like 600 hp with little work why can't the rb20det.

Anyone know anything more than me about this rb20det???

My theory is it should fit cuz the cefiro is about the same as the max an the motor mounts and whatnot should be the same too...

o man i found a place in ausi that will ship me an engine for 1000 bucks going rate of the engine seems to be around 1500-2500 seems like a better deal than a stillen sc... now to look for all the other junk i need to do a swap...

That's a good ****ing idea, I met a guy earlier today who is the ULTIMATE ****ing car MAN and he gave me an idea: Drop an R33 turbo (SR20DET I think he suggested)into a early 240Z body/chassis. He has done things like this plenty of times and he really is the ****ing man, this guy is my new best friend. He knows a guy in Australia that can get them so I'm thinking about it.

The sr20det is like nothing now... thats why I wanna do the rb20 into a max.. be original but at the same time be toasting the sr20's.

Just think a maxima with rwd or 4wd with like 800 hp.

sr20det into a 240 is pretty comon, if you wanna save even more weight go with the 200sx frame i know somone who is saving up for a sr20det right now..

Hey I've been looking for an sr20det for my 240sx, please drop me a note with the info about this ausi guy! man I've looked around for a while and that is a good deal. Do you know what comes with the engine? ECU? Ignition? etc?

They got a couple sr20det engines 4wd and rwd form I havn't e-mailed these people cuz by the time i have enoughf money these engines will probly be sold...

That Cefiro was a rear drive chassis and completely different from I30 and Maximas sold in North America

It was an earlier(pre-GT-R) Skyline that used the RB20DET, wich was a 4 cyl. The R33(as well as the R32) used the RB26DETT, and I-6.

I hope you aren't thinking of swapping the SR20DET into your Max. First off, the engine might not fit(an inline 4 is longer than a V6), and the JDM engine is in a rwd configuration. You might have to get one from a Sentra(fwd configuration) and then turbo it, but it still might not fit.
Then there's the matter of torque. It's going to take a lot of doing for any 4 cyl to match your stock engine in torque output. The JDM Sylvia Spec-R has the SR20DET, and puts out 247hp @the flywheel. But how much torque? Only 202 lb-ft, less than a stock 4th gen Max. Just the facts, my man...
