Aaahhhhhh!!! Hate 95 cupholders!!

Okay, I tipped another can of Dr. Pepper on my way to work today because of the worst designed cupholders I've ever seen. Who the hell has a rectangular can of soda or a square coffee cup? I've looked for them, but no success. I know, just don't eat or drink in my car, but I can't live with that. Also, I checked for a recall on the cupholder, but nothing, so I need to know if the center consoles are interchangeable between all 4th gens. I know that some of the later 4th gens have better holders, so I'm praying that I can swap away, cause it's really irritating the hell out of me, and I'm tired of keeping a roll of paper towels, a plastic bag, and a bottle of Orange Glo in the passenger seat. Any ideas other than no beverages (that rule only applies to passengers)??

haha you really think there would be a recall on cupholders?!?!

96's had ones come in the center console which you can get at a junkyard or from a dealer.

i custom put two inside it and it works fine...

i was even gonna add one to the back of the center console where the ashtray is but haven't had time.

There is one that you can get from the dealer that sits perfectly in the center compartment. Right next to the card holder...check out your manual.

What do you think??? hehehe...they should...also, I've found that 97-99 has a different cupholder design with a cover and actual round cupholders. Gotta see if I can find one, provided it will fit.

I have a '96 and I have the removable cup holder in the console. It is o.k. but then you have to drive around without an armrest. What I did was I got a 'Wizard' cupholder from Wal-Mart/Target and place it in the existing square cupholder. It can hold a can of coke, a mug or a 64 oz. double big gulp. Not the best looking but hey, it is very functional and you can remove it at any time. Good luck.

Yeah, my 97 has round cup holders. The only things that I find don't fit are water bottles. Seems here companies actually make the containers to fit car cup holders, most are nicely designed large at the top then slim down towards the bottom and fit nicely in the holders I only wish that I had cup holders for the back seat too so I didn't have to share the front ones with back seat passangers

The Karean version of our car (4th Gen Max.), still being sold (called SM5), has some really nice interior features we never got including rear cupholders.

The 97 cupholders that I have are great but need to be much bigger. I hate when I have a larger McDonalds or Route 44 drink and they have to sit in my lap. It's useless.

If you think those are the worst cupholders ever you've never been in a BMW/Saab/Benz/etc.

My 96 cup holders don't bother me too much, but I also still have the removable middle thing in it.

lol i think the 95-96 cup holders are a HUGE improvement over the 1st gen Altima ones that I had to deal with for 2 years.... it slid out from the front console right under the HU... with anything in there, it covered up the HU and wobbled around, and eventually spilled out

try searching for some pics of the cup holder in the 1st gen Altima if you want some laughs

I wish I saw your post earlier. I just bought a whole center console from 99 Maxima off ebay and threw it away about a week ago! All I wanted to replace was the armrest, but I didn't know it doesn't fit to 96 unless I change the entire console....

I don't eat or drink in my car much, but every so often when I have drink the cups fit in there fine and hold nicely. I use my cup holders as a change holder I have to admit though the design of the cup holders is quite odd. I'm thankful I have cup holders. My 1st gen Eclipse didn't even have any

mmm....dr pepper...there are only two other sodas that I've had that compare...1) real Cane Cola, 2) Reed's Ginger Beer. The crappy thing about those is they still don't work well in the cupholder cause they are glass bottles.

just get two small cups, fill them up, and when you run out of drink, just stop at a random gas station and run in really quick, fill it up, then run out
