How do I...

hey everyone. im new to the 4th gen forum. just sold my 3rd gen and bought a sweet 97 SE. the difference between the two blows me away. my new one is better in so many ways.
so anyway, i have the keyless entry and i was wondering if there is any way to make the horn honk as confirmation that the doors are locked when i push the lock button cause i can barely see the lights flash during the day. id appreciate the help. thanks.

I don't know about the horn honk, but you can make it beep. Go down the forum list and look for alarm beep started by me (it should be on 2 or 3 page of forums). It sound pretty nice but you defenitely need to stick it out the car

Todd...you could also make the horn do it...just by wiring a relay to the horn...you would have to run a long wire from the rear to the front...but it can be done. Good luck with the mod..and welcome to the 4th gens...I made the move also from 3rd to 4th

Don't use the vqpower wiring $hit it's useless. Just wire it straight up without using the relay. BTW that horn might work but I have a smaller one in. If it will work and will be pretty loud inside the trunk it would be awesome.

I was thinking about this also. I just have to find the signal lead for the horn, probably from the fuse box by the driverside kickpanel. The buzzer is good too however, you have to find a way to stick it out of the car so its audible, the only weird thing is that most alarms sound from the front of the car not from the rear.

I was also thinking that since the horn sounds when the alarm is tripped, there's already a relay there to integrate it to the alarm. Is it possible to just run a long wire from the relay in the truck to that existing relay that's for the horn?

so i installed the piezo buzzer today and it went smooth, but this thing kinda sounds cheap. are there different tones you can get, or is it just this one ''bird'' sounding chirp???

does ANYONE know of any other kind of beep that can hook up the same way. the piezo buzzer really sounds cheap and everyone makes fun of me for it. theres gotta be some other mechanism out there that sounds like the BMW or TOYOTA beep. maybe???

cant you somehow rewire it so it uses the multi-remote control relay somewhere under the hood rather than the one in the trunk? that way it'll beep from the front of the car instead of the back... but then i dunno which wire to look for or if there is a multi-remote control relay under the hood somewhere
