URGENT!: Stripped transmission bolts after dropping pan!!
So I had nothing to do yesterday and decided to finally drop the pan, replace the gasket and flush my tranny fluid. Everything went fairly well up until I put the bolts back on. Talk about bad timing with today being New Years! I now have 3 freaking stripped threads in which I am not able to tighten the bolts back on in the same vicinity. So since yesterday, my tranny fluid has been constantly leaking!! Everything is closed today so I now have to wait to get it fix somehow tomorrow.
Any ideas what can be done to get this fixed? I heard the shops usually will use a die-cast kit and make new treads for new bolts? I'm assuming new treads mean slightly bigger bolts? Anyone here had any experience with stripped tranny pan? Any ball-park figure how much it would cost to re-thread 3 holes if this is the best solution? THANKS!!

I suggest buying yourself a torque wrench for your car. You wouldnt have run into this problem. No Idea about how much it cost, but I think a shop should be able to fix your problem.

heh, I stripped a bolt here too...on a suzuki samurai (oil pan) doh!
I also torqued off the head of a bolt on my auto tranny pan on my maxima. No leaks for about 10K miles atleast, but I really need to invest in a torque wrench! My old cheap torque wrench broke....need to buy the nice kind with adjustable handle bar ($80+). Also...next time...I will buy a whole new set of tranny bolts...as the old ones must have gotten weak.

you need to stop lifting weights so much.
just go to the dealership and buy some bolts for the tranny pan, they SHOULDNT cost that much, and it would be easier than dealing with some random "professional" shop.
when i snapped one of my wheel studs, it only cost me 5$ for a new lug nut and stud from the dealership.
good luck
