Yeah, I think ASP can bore your TB also. If I don't get a 65mm or 70mm TB to work on my car, then I might get my stock one bored all the way through. That will change the plate from 60mm to like 65mm. Not bad.

lol Porting and boring are two completely different things. No they do not use a dremel tool. They actual bore out your TB.

This is what a bored TB looks like:

This is what a ported TB looks like:

So basically, porting a TB means you use a die grinder and appropriate bits to do it by hand. And you don't mess with the plate where it seals. Boring a TB means, it's bored all the way through and the plate is replaced. Porting is done by hand, boring isn't.

Confused and I (and some others) have it ... Crisper throttle response for sure... No dyno # comparisons unfortunately... Only would make sense if you are boosted.

I can see this bored TB giving a 6-10hp increase fairly easily on a NA application. Bryan H dyno'd his before and after PORTING TB, and he got 7hp and 13tq increase. I would imagine boring it to be a little better than porting it by hand.

The Pathfinder TB is 70mm. I'm pretty sure the VQ is 60mm. I know the VE TB is 60mm.

I just dynoed with a pathfinder 70mm TB and my numbers are no higher than any other 4th gen auto. The stock VQ TB is 60mm, proflo is 63.5mm, pathfinder is 70mm. IMHO it is not worth the money.

But the way I look at it, if it helps just a LITTLE bit, then it's worth it to me. What do you think? Did the 70mm Pathfinder TB help you at all? Was it a stock Pathfinder TB or ported?

Don't know why BrianH showed so much gain. He was a 3rd gen right? I never saw gains like that on my N/A 4th gen. Sure was pretty though.

Yeah it does seem like an aweful big gain. For me, I might have shaved one tenth in the 1/4 mile. I know my car within 3 hundredths of a second, so I am able to estimate pretty well. Personally, I see that I gained a good 5hp. Now this is from porting it not boring it.

Bryan H was a VE 5spd that ran 14.3 with little tinkering like this and some other bolt ons.

*edit* Did you get ProFlow to bore your TB? What size plate did you upgrade to? 63 or 64mm? Also, 5hp isn't always noticable. I didn't notice anything on the butt dyno other than initial throttle response. A very slight gain there.

Will replacing the throttle body with a larger one decrease your gas mileage? Seems like logically it would and IMO that would suck more than the small horsepower increase it would provide.
