if your going to get the whole thing painted at the same time i would paint it off to make it easier. if you need to blend it into your existing paint, slap it on.

I would put it on first... why paint the old stuff if your gonna get new stuff?
And it will be cheaper if you only have to paint either:
the car (kit installed)
or the car +the kit
plus it will ensure a exact color matching.
If you are painting your self it will be up to you but I think it would only be easier to do it all at once.

-what color are you going

Paint it off the car and paint the car seperately, just make sure you use the same paint. If you paint them on the car and decide to sell the car later and want to keep the kit (or sell it seperately) you'll have some grummy old paint under the effects that won't allow you to remove them. Also, Maxima's have a big market and when you get ready to sell it a lot of people might not like the kit and will only buy the car if you take it off. But, like I said, you can't take it off if you got jank old paint underneath.

If you're gonna do an all over paint job, paint it off the car.

Urathane parts, bumpers ect. must be painted off the car.

The reason.....

Paint for those items needs to have an additive to make it flexable or it will crack and peal off.

Your metal car body doesn't need the flex additive.

must is a very strong word. flex additive has no adverse effects so you could paint it on the car if you really wanted to.

Actually flex dulls the paint because it makes it porous, therefore if you wax a lot or use rubbing compound, it will dull...not shine. This is what I heard a while ago

well i would put the kit on before painting it because most of the times kits get stretched and get used to ur body and the paint would crack if u paint it before u put it on, i have a couple of friends that had that happen, put it on and leave it for a week or soo and then paint it.

I don't think anyone knows what they're talking about in this post. "You must", "you can't". "You should", "you shouldn't". There's no definitive answer! At least I laughed out loud this morning...
