Very Quick question Brakes related

I am replacing the pads, and I misplaced one of those v shaped springs. how vital are those? could I make so with just one?

interesting cuz I posted the same question a very long time ago and nobody responded either. After talking to a service guy @ a nissan dealership, he said no. I've heard from other mechanics that they aren't necessary either.

1 member told me they stopped including those after a certain year. And replacement pads used to come w/the spring, but don't anymore. So I'm guessing you're ok. cuz I'm missing 1 too.

It just keeps the pads away from the rotor. My brakes were squeaking so I picked up a front hardware kit from AutoZone (about $9 with tax) and the place that did the brakes put it on for me. Now my brakes only squeak once in a while

I think they're helpful for the rears, as a few people have noted their parking brakes dragging.

Do you guys have any problems with your break "scrubbing"? Sometimes when I come to a stop it seems like the breaks are acting up and you hear a scrubbing sound and you get kind of a sluggish stop. I took the pads off--looked ok--put break quiet on them..sounded a little better--then came back--- i was thinking it might have something to do with the two metal plates on the inner pad. I dont have ABS. I'll have to look at them again when I get around to it

Mine used to scrub. Then I resurfaced the rotors. Fine now. However, the scrubbing is there occassionally.
Can I venture to say you not only scrub, but hear a klunk when starting from a stop? There's a fix for both problems; they relate to the parking break dragging. I don't have the TSB # on me, but there's a hardware kit to fix it.
