Exhaust...... Performence vs Sound

I am looking for a good exhaust system that is pretty quiet but will still give some good performence. Also Id like it to have more of a stock look. Anyone have suggestions on a good set up?

Get a B-pipe, that's where any power will be made. It will add a deep tone, but won't trumpet like a rear section will.

You only get 2-4hp from a b-pipe, our b-pipes are pretty good flow wise. Get a y-pipe if you don't already have one and the car will be a bit louder a considerably faster.

yeah, the 3-5hp gained from B-pipes is better than the 0-0.5 HP one gains from a rear section exhaust. The rear sections on maximas are very very efficient... and yes, the Y-pipe is a given, if you are looking for performance and low volume, the Y is your only choice, you shouldn't even be considering the rest of the exhaust.

From everyone I have talked to, if you want a stock look and for it to be pretty quiet do the following:

1. aftermarket y-pipe 15-20 hp gains(go with Budget....$180)
2. aftermarket b-pipe 4-6 hp gains (you can get them custom made pretty cheap...that is what I am doing)
3. your choice on midsection or resonator (can get them custom made from muffler shop too)
4. either keep your stock muffler (they are efficient like the other guys said), or buy a 5th gen stock muffler with the dual tips. This will increase the amound of air that you can push out of the exhaust a little, and will still be quiet.

I would recommend the b-pipe be 2.5 all the way back, if possible. Esp. since the y-pipe you need to get should be the same.
