Some more details would help...

Is this just recently? Just bought the car?
Dealer should have at least told you WHAT will cost $600!

Thanks for the concern...

my car is a 97 se, i just had the 60,000 mile sevice done on the car. The following day, there it was.

i told the dealer the situation, he said it could be anything from the sensors to the bag itself...he would not elaborate anymore. jezz some help that guy was.

is he right? or is it as simple as a blown fuse.

thanks again.

This is the procedure for resetting the warning light.
This information came from the '99 Maxima factory service manual.
Perhaps your Nissan works the same way. It's easy enough to try.

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button, a button which is
pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door
Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7
seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF.
Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

Possible causes for this warning light to go on include...
- a fault with the Air Bag.
- abnormally low voltage in the electrical system due to a weak battery.
- a maladjusted door striker plate such that the door does not close properly,
and the DDS is jiggled on and off constantly as you drive.

Nissan owes you a free service!!!

Yo bel,
If this happened the next day following the 60k service from Nissan, it is there fault as far as you and I are concerned.

Go back and demand that they correct the issue!!!

I agree with Str8Maxin.... too much of a coincidence...

But try the reset first like Dan said... to save the time and possible headaches....
