My car is slow!!!

I have a 98 SE auto (just got a new tranny ***from the dealership*** last week) . . .I have 120,000 miles on it. I used to get it up to 130mph no problem ***on a closed circuit, not on the streets*** but now it takes forever to even get from 100mph to 115mph. . . I don't think I can even hit 130 anymore. . .Is there anything that I should check for??? Why would it be so slow all the sudden??? I haven't driven like that in a while so I don't know what to look for. . . Could it be the new tranny???

Please help...

Sam

i just had a really long post, and the board ate it up!

I jsut got a new tranny on friday after it blew up. I also changed over to castrol synth oil, and used a ton of sea foam the next day (saturday). The car felt TERRIBLE!!! IT WAS SO SLOW!!! Even before the sea foam, which definately did the job, since the car stank for a long time, the car felt like junk. All of a sudden, yesterday, the baby begins to come around, and today, the car is squealing away from every single stoplight and stopsign. Bottom line? Have patience...

if its a brand new tranny from dealer..i would chill for about 500-1000 miles to let it break in before u decide to go around mashing it everywhere.

as for why your car is slower ..??????? tell the dealer.. a new tranny shuld not make your car slower, if anything.. the unworn gears should make your car a lil faster. and if they want to charge you for extra to fix fight it.. cause they didnt do a good job in the first place.

that is fixable, and should've been covered by the dealer. My tranny already had 300 R&D miles from the dealership, how they managed to put that kind of mileage on it in that short a time, only god knows, but they did nonetheless, in order to make sure it was operating properly, and then for proper initial break in. Between friday and sunday I drove a good 350 miles. Now i've driven a good 500. 500+300=800 miles. I think it's safe...but just to be sure, i bought myself a Hayden 514 tranny cooler, they didn't have the 404 or 403 in stock, they just had the 514 or 401, and the 401 was PUNY...
