Injen CAI v. Place Racing
Injen CAI v. Place Racing
Can a newbie like myself install an Injen CAI with a semi knowledgable friend and some printouts? If so, is it better than a Place Racing intake. I know many of these responses will be biased, but if i could have any input that be awesome. but i know a PR CAI is real and you must cut hole in wheel well(unlike IINJEN), but how does it compare to INJEN in cost/performance/sound?
My Injen went in really easy. Little tight, but no major problems. The sound is awsome along with a noticable kick after 2500 RPM. The only Problem I had is that the filter hits the Tranny linkage, so keep an eye out for that. I have an auto, so the 5 speed might be different. I don't know anything about the Place Racing
thanks guys, im leaning towards the injen so i can save the money for install, and take pride in myself for my handiwork,..... but i don't know what the tranny linkage is. but i too have an auto, so how did you deal with the prob, B_RAT? keep 'em coming
you can find PR cai on the for sell section of the forum for real cheap. i personally have a PR cai and i'm very happy with it. a lot of power right off the bat and sounds AWESOME. i would imagine the injen would have the same gains as the place racing but will cost you a hell lot more $. i say get the place racing cold air
I just installed my Ingen CAI and I love it. I got it on Christmas and put it on Christmas night. it took me about 3 hrs to install... about 2.5 hrs was taking out the ram air stuff. I have enough plastic now to donate to a toy company to make a freaking army of GI Joe's...anyway I liked Injen because no cutting is involved and I had no fitament problems everything fits very nicely after slight jockying during install. (I have and auto. too) And trust me you'll love the sound (I had the biggest grin when I took it for a spin during the last hours of Christmas day.) Just need to get y-pipe, and greddy sp2 to show true potential. ANyway I would go with the Ingen CAI. Good looks, easy install, awesome sound = needed mod!
ive installed/driven cars with both, i like the chrome look of the injen personally, the injen was quite a bit easier to install, i do think the place has a deeper sound to it, you cant go wrong with either really

that is the first unbiased post i have ever seen on this topic.
yup... i'm planning on going with injen simply for the good looks and ease of install... i thought the pr cai went for around $200. well southwest auto sells the injen for about $240 so the price difference isn't too big. unless you buy the pr cai used of course. i'm sure both sound great and perform roughly the same.
i'v been in both and heard both...
injen-shiny, LOUD, easy *** install.
pr-not shiny, not as loud as the injen but sorta of deeper. hassle of an install, or so my buddy said in compairson to the injen
my injen seems deeper now will my full exhaust for what its worth.
lets face it an aftermarket intake is for looks and sound mainly. thats why i got the injen. the pr probably gives it an extra 1hp over the injen because its getting a little colder air. adventon.com sells the cheapest 208 + shipping unless they went up. good luck looking back i'd either make one myself or do the injen again. peace!

i have a 5-speed and the hardest part of my install was the removal of all the plastic stock air intake system. Once that all came out though the injen went in real easy. Ive never seen the place racing one in person but i went for the injen because i know the company and i didnt want to cut my car.
