Ok, ok, ok, I'm sorry but I didnt really get a clear answer, is it worth swapping from my auto to a 5spd? I want to have a 5spd, because I want it to be fast, and turbo/sc it someday. If I do the swap I am going to look for a I30 tranny. But any how what are my gains from this (between a auto and a stick)??? And how much am I looking at paying for the swap. Sorry I went off topic.

Sorry I know you guys talked about the vbmod and all, but if I get it, will I be running with sticks? or will I still be lagging like a auto???

you'll still be behind due to more drivetrain loss on the auto.

I dont see how more gears can make a car faster if it has same power. Auto's arent slower than sticks cause of less gears but cause of initial response so how can 6 speed benefit over a 5 speed in speed?

but the 2k8 skyline is new

the 5 speed swap is worthy...but it depends what you are looking for. Many people are happy with their autos, and a VB would make it sportier with faster shifts. but you still lack the fine control, and all the fluid in the trans kills your power a little. It depends on how much you like driving a manual, if the cost is worth it, how good you are driving a manual, etc...

If you got $3k laying around you can try finding a thread with some guy beefing up his auto using SUPRA parts in the tranny. Some guy in MD does it and gives a $5hp warantee on it. Shifts faster than a manual but still more TC loss.

i was at max tuning over the summer talking to jeff about it. he didnt have one negative thing to say besides the fact that it took a while, buying special parts etc. If your gonna do it and you have the money, go for it. Im pretty sure Jeff wouldnt have done it if his car was gonna suffer as a result.

What is your problem? So what if SXN has been here for a while. He shows no respect to anyone else and he's the one that knows absolutely nothing. Are you his boy or something? I tell the guy to get his tranny beefed up and you get on me. How does me telling people the CORRECT thing make me be someone "who thinks he knows everything"?. I've been here a few days and everyone is jumping on me for no reason.

--i heard the 5 spd swap is around $800???
I would just compare the price for the 6 spd to 5spd to which looks like the better deal--how much did that guy put into is 6spd???

Well, once again, don't talk unless you know what you are talking about. Big D man... I don't know about you... you should calm down man...

But just as FYI, SXN is very smart when it comes to Maxima's... and even cars in general.

Are you his boy or something?
No, he is not. But it is evident that an outsider can realize who is correct, and who is wrong. kinda funny.

It is not for no reason. If you would think before you type, you would not have these problems. You have only been here for a week, and you are causing an awful lot of trouble. Take it down a notch, and people will not bother you. But unfortunately, you only get one first impression.

ok, a lot of people have a problem with the incredibly quickly growing post count. newbies generally have humble beginings...this isnt one of them. secondly, you made some generally off color remarks, and then say others are starting fights. you have been here one, single week. now isnt the time to start pointing fingers. just relax and give it some time. I dont know everything, but you know what, no one does, including you. if you havent noticed...i am helpful too, you cant focus on the bad constantly. I know you dont "need" any enemies...so dont make any

Well, I guess no one asked me... but made a post anyway! Odd how forums work huh? You just can't tell who's gonna make a post!

And it is my understanding that when Plurco typed "ALL” he meant "ALL of us” which includes YOU...

This is a forum?! I though it was a grammer school, school yard full of 13 y/o girls arguing. JK. But seriously, enough with everyones backtalk, everyone here is NOT maxima specialists, even though a lot of us would like to be. But when someone asks a question, isn't it right to try to answer it to the best of your knowledge? Maybe its just me. STOP THE BASHING B!TCH!!!!

And it was a good observation.

Blkmax95c which write up did you use on how to remove all the dash components to change the bulbs behind the gauges? was it any of these 2 http://www.seas.ucla.edu/~cheston/dashinstall.html , http://www.geocities.com/amixam69/ni...ash/index.html
or some other one?

I'm not going to read all 78 posts but if you guys really want to know how it is then call Jeff at Maxx Tuning. He's the only person I know that has it and has a S/C running at about 12 lbs of boost. Call him at his shop and he'll tell you the benefits and the complexity of the install. I can tell you one thing though. I asked him how hard was it to do and he said he never wants to do it again. This is coming from a man that has probably done about 2 done 5 speed converisons. So this should give you guys an idea about how complex the install is.
