ECU Questions...

I need an ECU for my automatic 98. Dmontzmax from the org converted to 5speed and is willing to sell me his automatic ECU from his 1997. I talked to my mechanic and he says that Nissan told him that not only do I have to find an ECU from the same year, 98, but also with the same serial number on the unit. Would the 97 ECU work for my 98? Thanks.

Are you positive? I've been hearing a lot of mixed answers...

I used a 98 maxima auto ECU in my 96 I30 5spd with out problems except CEL's related to the auto tranny.

using a different year ECU may cause a CEL, but the car will run fine.

Thanks, I may try it.

Has anyone else used a different year ECU in their Maxima having it run fine?
