how do you change front 02 sensor?

Very easy. Which one? left hand front or right hand? Get the car up. Jack or ramp or lift, whatever you want. Look on the y pipe. See where there's that thing sticking into it, with three wires? It's on the downpipe part. Take a 22 mm open ended wrench to it, and turn it counterclockwise until it's loose. Kind of slow going, due to the limited space. 1/2 turns or 1/4 turns at a time. Get it loose enough until you can turn it by hand. Now pull it out. Get out from under your car and look under the hood. If it's the Left sensor, the plug in is by the radiator, where the Nissan words are. It's the plug in with the three wires. Two are the same color, one is different. If it's the RH, it's near the rear, right hand ignition coil, 6 inches or so from the strut mount. Push down on the little plastic tab, and unplug it. Pull it off the big metal tab that its on. Follow the wire down... see all the little plastic connectors holding it in place? Break or cut those off. Take the new o2 sensor, and get under the car and screw it in. You should have antiseize on it. Now get the plug in/wire through the engine bay, following the path of the original wire. Put in on the big metal tab. Plug it in. Reset the cel. (Check faq to see how). You're done.

Put the code into the ECU decoder. Look for it in the FAQ. The sensors run from 60-100 bucks, depending on the brand and where you get them. If you have an o2 sensor problem, you'll get a cel. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Although some reccomend that you replace them at 75k or 100k anyways.

How would I know? You have to have the sensors in for a while to see how the brands hold up. Maybe they're all pretty much the same, maybe some will crap out real fast. I have an NGK sensor ($100) and a walker ($60). Neither have failed on me yet, but they've only got 50 miles or so on them. Maybe the brand name sensor will last longer, or maybe not. Who knows. As long as I don't get a cel, I don't care.
