2000 engine and tranny in the 1999?

Just came back from reading the FAQs and I noticed that nobody has done this and nobody deems it feasible to do it because it has no value.

Well, let me explain my situation.

I blew my 38K s/c engine. I was planning on swapping in this junkyard 2000 engine, which has the same layout as the 4th gens, except it has a different intake manifold and different exhaust, thus allowing it to have 222 hp.

Now, will my s/c kit work on this engine? Will I have problems installing this engine in my car? Will it fit under the hood with the new manifold? Will it run?

I currently have a blown 1999 I30 engine.

Any help will be much appreciated.

For the last time. The intake manifold will not clear the hoood, this is a small problem. It also won't clear the firewall, not enough room for it. There is no point to this really, only bigger injectors I believe but according to this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2452038198
4th gen motors have "The engine is a '99 with 3000 miles on it (pre K motor so it has the thicker block casting and stronger rods and forged crank".

I know this has been talked about before but I didn't want to search right now.

Aren't the cams or something else slightly diff in the 2K engines? Wasn't there something besides the manifold and exhaust giving the +32/37hp. I haven't looked at the graphs but if one could make it fit wouldn't it be much better than the MEVI solution?

Adaptor for the engine mounts and it would probably fit. Move them up towards the front a bit and it could work. I think they also used some different materials for some odf the internals to make them lighter or smoother or something.

back to this again. My bro and I completed this swap except the intake manifold on the car is off a 4th gen.

Internals are different also. Lighter and car accelerates and runs smoother also.

If you took the head of a 96 and used the 2000 block what would be the snares or problems with that?

Tha sorta defeats the purpose of the swap, because the IM is one of the better parts of the VQ30DE-K

Since you have a 2k block why don't you get a dyno to see if it makes 4th gen or 5th gen power. You say that it feels smoother and faster but that means nothing. Just a suggestion to end all this.

So with that ,the thermostat would be the only problem. Why cant you just set it up like a 4th gen ? Is the block area cast different there? Is it the same setup as my 96 but in a different spot . If you can give answers to these questions that would great. Thanks

I did read a few weeks back in the Boosted fourmn of someone who DID swap a 2000 engine in a 95. He just reversed 1 side of the Motor mounts and it worked perfectly he said.
I believe his New REAL prob was getting new axels for the front.

Anyone know where this Swap thread is???

Screw the hood problem . Get ya a Damn scoop like me or get something bigger.
