red paint on my tails is driving me insane!

I redded out my tails with testors spray enamel 1605 transparent candy apple red and now it's chipping and fading so i need a way to take it off. In the past, what i did was put another layer on to fix this but i'm tired of adding on another layer of paint so i just wanna take it off and redo it with 3 layers plus a clear coat to protect it. So far, I've tried rubbing alcohol, nail-polish remover, Klean Strip Paint thinner, and Goo Gone. None of them worked and all it did was take the dirt off of the lenses. If anyone knows what would work, please let me kno~!

well paint thinner should've taken all that off. If it doesn't come out just put on another coat or 2 and finish it off with the clear coat. Might mant to add some tint to make them darker, looks really nice.

ok wat i did was just spray one coat on and left it. It looked good. But as time passed, the paint started fading and chipping. so don't do it the way i did. Do it like this:

use a little palm olive or dish soap, or rubbing alcohol, and clean your tail lights really well, then let them dry. if you have other paint on there peeling off, you might want to buy some kind of remover, maybe try goo gone of goof off, or an acrylic thinner. anyways, once your lights are read to be painted, tape off accordingly, spray thin thin thin coats. don't try to make it the dark red in one spraying. i know you want to, as i did, but if you do too much, it'll bubble up or drip. so, do thin layers, allow 15 minutes or so in between each to dry. i think i did about 3 or so layers. after you've done those, let them dry overnight and let the paint cure as they say. i waited a few weeks before i was smart enough to wax them, and i'm not sure how soon after you paint them you should wait. waxing was the trick though down the line that made them shine and made the color match the best. i waxed them about three times and now they look like they came that way from the factory.

have you thought about soaking it down with paint stripper and then lightly using some steel wool to lightly scrub it off.. gently so it doesn't scratch anything.... you might even put the steel wool pad in a rag and then use it like that.

just a thought

i bought testors transparent candy apple red at wal-mart, its pretty cheap like $2.87+tax, and i got the oops there too, but i think home depot has it too, its in a white can. just put the oops on a rag and start wiping. the best part is that oops does not harm the tail light.

i tried vynal and it faded pretty fast and it didn't look as sleek and shiny as paint. So go with the paint. Bad part about paint is there's a lot more work involved but in the end i think it's all worth it.
