Yeah, get one that fits, not that silly Optima which has to be adapted to fit. And don't get that dumb group 35 like I did at the advice of the "then" forum. The proper size for my car is 24F. If you spend $40 at Wal Mart you're not gonna need a new battery for at least 4-5 more years. The purpose of the thing is to start the motor, not look pretty when you lift the hood.

Most batteries you get should be okay. I like the Costco (Kirkland) brand. It's like $47 bucks and just beat the Sears Diehard in Consumer Reports

They ranked them like this (if it matters)

Kirkland (Costco)
Sears Die Hard
Nascar (whatever that is)
Duralast (Autozone)
Interstate
EverStart (Walmart)

Most have 36 month free replacement with 7-9 year pro-rated. You should be okay with whatever you get.

if you've got a stereo, get the optima, if not, get a regular walmart battery. no need for a deep cycling battery.

True, but for an optima, it comes with a killer backup warranty up to 7 years i believe, and they are better than convetional batteries. when my oem died, i bought a 45 dollar one and it lasted 6 months.

With the warranty, they replace it completely after 3 years...and after that it is prorated. Good deal in my eyes.

i just popped in an optima red top in my max today after it being dead for the last 2 days.. cost me about 80 bucks with a gift card i had from xmass. looks awesome, no fitment issues whatsoever.. the only thing is that the tray is a little bigger than the batt but once you tighten down the J hooks it aint going no where.
PS if you go for the optima get shorter j hooks for a couple of dollars for the new battery so you can secure it tightly. plus the new hooks look great on without the rust from the old ones. it gives the engine bay a total makeover.

Hey Ed what size/type Optima battery did you get? My battery is leaking and dead in my 96. So I need to get a new battery soon. Eventially I want to trunk mount the battery so I think I will get an Optima because they supposidly don't leak and are sealed pretty good.
