Keeping mud from dinging paint at bottom of car.

Where I live (Columbus, Ga. Go past hell and take a left. Can't miss it.) there are a lot of nasty roads and mud flings up on the bottom of my car. That stuff is a biatch to get off. I heard about a plastic film you put on the bottom of your car to take the pain instead of your paint. Does it exist? if not, whats the best way to keep that crap off by nice new paint job?

I gotta drive on country roads which stock (yes, mainly sheep :P) are sometimes moved on, and of course they crap all over the road Even with mudguards, the crap flicks up at the underbody, and if you don't clean it off asap, it's a ***** to get off.

Although they do appear to stop the stones from flicking up at it, I don't actually have any dings down there
