Clutch Problem Please HELP!
Clutch Problem Please HELP!
ok, here's the story.
i was on the freeway, i tried down shifting from 5th to 4th.
it goes in to 4th but....it doesn't do anything. its like 4th gear is in neutral but its not! it is in gear. well....anyways....i get off the freeway.
all gears are working except 4th.
after a few signal lights, it does not go in 1st or 2nd, only third.
so i drove all the way home taking off on 3rd gear, eating up my clutch.
so gears that are working is 3rd, 5th and Reverse.
1st and 2nd gear, it does not even go in.
4th gear, it goes in but it does not take off or anything, its like neutral.
can anyone help me??? does anyone know whats wrong!
starting to have too many problems.

Have you recently had work done to the car?
Does the shifter feel sloppy or stiff (or normal)?
How is the tranny fluid level?
Without knowing the answers to any of these questions, I would look under the car and locate the bar that resides above the catalytic converter. This is the shift control rod. Make sure the joint between the shifter lever and the rod is not loose. Then visually inspect the shift control rod for things such as cracks and lodged road debris. Move towards the transmission and check the other end of the shift control rod for play or damage.
Also, make sure the support rod is not loose and interfering with the shift control rod. This is located above and parallel to the shift control rod.
Other than that, I don't think there is much you can do besides have the tranny cracked open.
I hope this helps.
