when i heard my headlight went "bizz...", "o...crap" i just blew another gaybay 9004.

can you say... 3 set of 9004 within 1 year? just blew my KOBA 4,800k today. it's my second set actually. my first set was just some generic 4,000k hyperwhite 9004s.
now all my stock 9004s and 1157s (rewired) are back on. i told myself it looks fugly but definetly serve its function better than gaybay's.
according tom (njmaxseltd), diamond blue 9004s works great, brighter than stock, and does not produce rice light. but it's kinda expensive...any other stock halogen replacement?
no, no HID for me, no $$ for that.

Ive run a few kinds...
1) Stocker - no comment...
2) POS ricer blue lights - trying them from my friends max, they provided the same amount of light as a half burnt out candle. They sucked!
3) Phillips BlueVision - whiter than stock, yet still yellowish in color. Not a bad light
4) Silverstars (current) - provide a nice whiter light with a hint of blue with just as good vision on high/low as any stock light. Only disadvantage, they suck in the rain, but ANY non-yellow light sucks in the rain...period...
I have my silverstars teamed with some ion colored blue-ish fog lights (since the stockers kept going out) teamed with a brighter corner light and no sidemarker bulb. Nice combo IMO

I have Eurodezigns headlights and fog lights, nothing i've ever baught from them has burned out, and this is after 2 years+
I got 5 pairs total:
4 pair of 9004
1 - my maxima
2 - my dad's maxima
3 - my friends cavalier
4 - my friends isuzu truck
1 pair H3 for my fog lights
so out of 5 sets of lights nothing has burned out.
They produce a bright white color with a just little blue.(I actually like the blue color)

I can vouch for the EuroDezigns not burning out... I had them in my 99 Passat. Only problem I had though, was that the beam seemed like it scattered a little bit. I don't know if it's the way the bulb is designed or what, but the cutoff wasn't as defined with the EuroDezign bulbs- it looked much better with OEM. However, the light was much brighter and whiter with the aftermarket bulbs.

when it comes to light output and vision HID is the way to go, after going through MANY pairs of aftermarket bulbs(nokya, apc, silvania cool blues, hyper industries etc) not to mention having my harness burned and then having to get new upgraded ones...tired of having to deal with all that im forking over 400 for some bohmen 5000k hids which are on sale right now from teh original 590 at proxenon.com but then again that's just mei understand price is a problem but invest in them when you get a chance :-)
I used to blow lights all the time. Get used to it, or switch to HIDs or lights that don't look as nice but don't blow. I did the latter. People will always bring up that if you keep buying 9004 bulbs, after a while you've paid for HIDs. Yeah, but, even at $25 a set, you'd still need to buy about 20 sets (40 bulbs) to pay for hids. That's a ton of blown lights. If you are blowing that many, check your battery/alternator/ground wires.
You can continue to use cheapo blue aftermarket bulbs, but don't get frustrated everytime one blows. They are not that hard to replace. But it does get old after a while. I switched to Phillips Bluevisions which certainly don't look quite as good, but haven't blown (bout a year now) and put out a good amount of light. But that's a temp fix until a projector set comes out that I'm happy with.

actually right now all my lights are stock with rewired corner, it looks pretty nice. it matched up so much better than all these apc/raybrigs/polargs/custom 1157 + 9004.

i remember those days when i tried every single 9004 xenon-claimed halogen aftermarket bulb, they all basically suck! Any bulb with a color filter (yes, that aqua blue film) reduces the amount of light you actually get from a normal 9004 bulb. I would say that stock 9004 bulbs give you the best lighting (yes, i agree they are ugly!).
And usually alot of those companies that make these blue bulbs decide to INCREASE the wattage for the purpose of making it more brighter when it actuality, you're burning your headlight socket because it can't handle that much wattage. Those bulbs burn out even faster than stock.
Sylvania Silverstars increase the wattage by 5 watts i think, so its like 70w/50w instead of the stock 65w/45w. Those bulbs have a very light blue filter i think on the bulb. Obviously a 5 watt increase like that shouldn't burn the socket out, but if you decide to do 130w/90w, then obviously its going to die very soon. Look at the chart...

HIDs are the way to go! My 9004 Bi-Xenon 4300k kit from hidkits.com is the best investment i made. I can see everythiing and I have no regrets getting the kit. And I only paid $275 because i won it on an eBay auction. It usually goes for over $500+. I think there are some 6000k kits on eBay for around $300, but hey, you won't have to keep changing the bulbs!

FYIO: Any of those Silverstars/whatever are going to be dimmer than stock. The light may have a shift towards the blue end of the spectrum (read: look whiter) but any bulb with a coating like that is DIMMER than stock. I ran the PIAA whateverthehellthewhiteonesarecalled for a while because I thought I didn't care and recently replaced them with Xtravisions that have no coating. The difference is not insignificant. If you want to go for a bulb with a coating for looks, then go for it, but none of them are brighter than stock, trust me. I had an excellent link to this crazy ****'s site, but it's down right now. bottom line was that dude knew his **** when it came to lighting.
