Good article about standard bulbs types. Bottom of page talks about Catz Zeta.

See ya

As you can see the Max has the worst lighting there is. Even the 9007 equipped cars get 55W low beams compared to our 45W. My GF's 95 Accord has a pretty good system with 9006 lows and 9005 highs. When high beam is put on, all four bulbs are going giving more than twice the light of our high beams. That's the way to design headlights!

I'm not sure if this has been tried but why not rig an H4 to fit the headlight housing, not sure if the socket size is the same. I know the fitting is different but it could probably be altered. Then instead of using the 9004 harness/connector that's on the car, upgrade the wires and get a H4 connector from Autozone or Pep Boy's. The headlight relays and fuses will probably need upgrading too. Then voila 55w power! The only thing I can think of is if the headlight housing can take the higher temp produced by the new bulb. I think if it can take the heat from an HID bulb, it could certainly take it from an H4.

What do you guys think?

The H4 capsule has vertically oriented filaments where the 9004 is horizontal. The beam pattern would be completely messed up. Also true HID lights are gas discharge as opposed to filaments meaning they use far less power and create far more light and give off less heat. It's kinda like comparing old style light bulbs with compact fluorescents.

Yup, a better headlight because it's got the H4 bulb. If you used the standard 55/60W bulb I doubt that you would need to upgrade the wiring. Additionally the H4 is available in higher wattages which would give more light but then you would need to upgrade. I think the 80/100W would be good but the housing might not be able to take the heat. I've always had Hella and Cibie H4's in my other cars but in the Max we have no choice. Such a nice car burdened by cr*p for headlights...
