Fuel smell inside car when idle

I've been smelling fuel lately inside the car when my engine has been idling for a few minutes. I thought I just needed a fuel filter but it still has the smell after changing to a new one. Anyone know what causes this?

check if you've got an exhuast leek coming from the y-pipe to cat or cat to b-pipe. i have that issue and it smells like gas aswell. you should be able to here if you've got an exhuast leek aswell. dunno what else it can be.

I can't tell if I have a leak right now. Too much damn snow. I have the Cattman Y-pipe sitting in my room...maybe its time I installed it. Anyone have any other ideas on what this problem might be?

Have you messed with your injectors at all? You could have torn an o-ring, which will leak fuel into the engine bay...slowly, but you could smell it.

I have never messed with my injectors. All I ever did was pour that injection cleaner in my gas tank after an oil change.

If that bag is filled do i have to get a new pump or just a new bag?

I think you would just need a new bag or if you can empty the one you have somehow....I really dont know I was just telling you something I came across the other night in the troubleshooting section.

I would also check the hoses and the connections on your fuel filter. I had a similar smell and I checked and the hose that comes off the top of the fuel filter had cracked and was leaking. I replaced it and it went away.
