Sylvannia Silverstars suck

Today I went out to autozone and brought me a pair of Sylvannia Silverstars bulbs for my 96 max.. I thought it would improve the light beam and make it appear like "HID" but it did nothing of that sort.. It looks exactly the same as before... Are there any bulbs that I can buy other than ebay to stimulate the "HID" look.. Can I return back these bulbs that I brought from AutoZone even though they are were open and used....? Thanks in advance

I love my Silverstar's personally but get PIAA Xenon bulbs. They'll give you that nice blue rice-boy look

if you must get "HID" look blue bulbs, then get some yellow h3 fogs to help out in the rain.

I'v got cool blues, i figured they were pretty much the same as Silverstars, just $20 cheaper. they work for me.

Also, the constrast looks good, like a lexus

Steps to getting that HID look:

1. Find a high-class neighborhood.

2. Find a $50,000 plus vehicle. BMW and Lexus are good targets.

3. Gather up screwdriver and black clothing.

4. Yank out the nice car's HID kit and run like hell.

Impossible, it's whiter than your normal halogen bulb. If you don't believe me, check out my homepage, page 2. I'm too lazy to link the pic right now

You were expecting HID-like output and you won't get that from the Silverstars.

What are the options of upgrading your wiring harness without going HID? Basically, can you buy a Nokya H4 Wire Harness Upgrade, and Nokya H4 bulbs, and fix the problem? My silverstars are pathetic.

Silverstars or Cool Blues are good alternatives. You won't get a bigger light pattern or extreme brightness, but the clarity and lack of the yellow tint is much improved. As for HID, don't go there unless you completely change out the reflectors as well. A lot of tuners or wannabe's throw HID bulbs in. The reflector pattern works in a different direction from HID. The beam pattern is not maximized for its visibility and illumination. Also, you'll blind oncoming motorists with an improper HID set. The real blue lights also P.O. some local law enforcement.

Lower your expectations. Silverstars cost $50 a pair. HIDs are typically a $1000+ option on new cars. Gimme a break already. There are NO bulbs that can properly simulate HID, without functioning like crud. Period. End of sentence.

Go talk to VatoZone, and see if they'll take them back. Hopefully the guy laughs at you, and points to their return policy, but who knows, maybe you'll get your money back.

Forget comparing them to HID's, but they should have decent light illumination. In the rain, it looks as if my headlights are not even on. I can barely see.

I happen to really like my Silverstars. I think they are very bright, even in rain. They help me out tremendously, without the yellowish look of the OEM halogens.

Do they make Silverstars for the OEM fogs?
My car looks strange with the OEM fogs and Silverstar headlights

I have the Silverstars and OEM foglights as well, I'm thinking of getting either PIAA ion crystal lights or Xtreme whites.
Ion crystals would be more practical.. but white is a better look IMO.

I guess you will have to get PIAA Xtreme or something, because I don't think there are Silverstars for fogs. Not yet, at least. I was wanting the same thing.
