Re: leather\power seat swap

I just installed my newly acquired leather seats which are also powered. The plugs for the seat were just under the carpet. I thought this could not be any easier....when....the seats do not move at all...no power. I know they work as I saw them work before I purchased them. I tested the plug from the car and it is not live. I checked all fuses and they were fine. What else should I check?

I tested the seats by running power and ground directly from the battery and the seats work great. But, the wires from under the carpet have no juice...is there a fuse somewhere that I can check? I cannot trace the wire as it runs together with many many others that are wrapped together and I loose it. Any help would be appreciated.

What color are your old seats? If they are beige, would you be interested in selling them? I have leather seats but the front ones are all ripped and peeling in some areas. I'd rather have clothe seats. Let me know.

2DaMax, I t seems I am replying to many of your posts. I must just be one step ahead of you in the upgrade game. Yes I have the entire interior including front, rear, and all four door panels. However, they are dark grey in color but everything is there to change your entire interior. I just swap all of it out for leather interior including leather door panels. Let me know...Vortex Se

Vortex, did you originally have non-powered seats? I am planning to add power seats to my car. Where exactly is the plug? Are all GXE's prewired?

WOW!!! I'm thinking if the dark grey interior would look good with the beige exterior. How much are you thinking of selling them? The driver's seat is powered right? But wait....you have a 2000 Maxima, I have a 95! I wonder if the door panels are the same size.

correct...mine is an SE but I believe that all of them are prewired for power just not for heat. Look under your cuurent seats and the wire should tied to the bottom of your manual seats just not plugged to anything. If not there, then look just under the carpet. The problem for me is that the wire that I found, which is the correct one, does nothave any power. Either way I will get them working even if I have to run my own wires. It is just two wires, power and ground.

Check for any empty relay sockets and fuse holders. Not sure if it's gonna help but it takes a minute.

2DaMAx....Actually I just have not changed my SIG yet. I have a 1996 SE 5spd black. This is the one I have the interior for. It will work perfectly. Sold the 2000 SE Pearl A\T a few months ago.

Can anyone tell me if they have a fuse or relay for power seats? I have looked and there are no labels for seats and all fuses and relays are good. Help!

I wish I can help you man, I have been looking in my Chilton manual all night last night and didn't find a schematic for the powered seat. I don't know if you tried tracing from the wire harness, you've found under the carpet, back to the fuse box under the kickpanel, to see if its even wired onto it or if it has a fuse. If not, why not connect that wire harness to an empty circuit in the fusebox or connect it to your own fuse. Then connect that to a hot source. That'll power your seats just fine.

help!!!!

Anyone??? Does anyone know where I might get my hands on a wiring diagram that would include the power seat harness? I have trace the wires and they do not run to the fuse box. They keep going up into the dash. I hoping someone can help before I tear the dash apart tracing the wires.

Also, I am selling my cloth seats and door panels if anyone is interested.

I checked my Chiltons and to my surprise, there's none. Perhaps someone in here with a Haynes manual can check as well. I'm pretty sure the wiring for the power seat is stand-alone and the only thing you'd need is a hot 12v tap. If I were you, I'd just run my own 12v wire to a power source within the fuse box. There might be an open spot where you can tap your power lead into and then add your fuse. I'm sure a 14-16 guage wire will do. I wouldn't go thru the troubles of tearing out the dashboard.
