Rice...

Carbon fiber is meant for weight loss, primarly for racing purposes. Whoever decided it actually looked good UNPAINTED was on something. Now we have anything from lips, to trunk lids (by far the ugliest piece of carbon fiber anything ive ever seen). PAINTED carbon fiber is fine, since you still get that substanial weight loss but it actually looks good...

JMO of course...

CF only looks good on most colors if it is painted. Looks ugly on most colrs unpainted.,

I think it'd actually look pretty good on my deep evergreen max if left unpainted.. and a few of my friends feel the same way (who are definatly not into rice mods) I'm considering getting it and yes, leaving it unpainted.. This is a repost btw.. they announced it well over a week ago.

Oh, and a little rice now and again never hurt anyone.. at least its a quality part. You don't find expensive cf parts on "riced" out cars. Just because its a purely cosmetic mod, doesn't mean its not worth getting.

IMO if I see carbon fiber unpainted then there'd better be something good under the hood to compliment the cf price.

So, if you add a CF lip when you had nothing before, how does that save weight?

If you are a weight saving freak, why would get any body kit pieces anyway?

Yeah seriously lol... "adding" low weight body parts to the car when there was nothing there before isn't exactly weight reduction. Get a lightweight battery and some racing seats if you're really serious about weight reduction. You can drop like 30 pounds per seat and maybe another 20 with the battery.. Obviously it all depends on what brands you go with etc. Some aftermarket seats weight more than others.

i wanna see it on a max before i can judge it, i think i might like it better than the stillen lip, but i would deffinitly paint it, but i think it might not look TOO bad on a black max.

Im not really into CF, I would only go for it for weight reduction. If painted black will it look stock or is there going to be a noticable pattern?

What's the point of spending the extra money on a CF lip if you're going to paint it?

I'm getting one for my Orange Max. Along with a hood, and hopefully the trunk lid. I like the look of it. The hell if I care about the weight loss.

I do like the lip a lot. I sure won't pay more to paint it body color. How much is the lip anyway?

GD pricing is 300 shipped.. 290 if 10 or more people buy one. I'm on the verge of buying one, I think all the cf parts on sadler's car look hot next to the deep evergreen (his paint might be a slightly modified version of the color but anyways) The mild difference in color, especially at night, looks good IMO.

How do you guys think CF will stand up to scrapes, etc. I'm pretty sure itll crack. And with my Sprints the front will only have a couple inches of ground clearance with teh lip...I'd love the CF lip but I don't want to crack it.

oh, that makes me remember this crappy civic that was all done up, it had a carbon fiber front lip, and there was a huge chunk out of it on one of the corners, and it was all cracked up. There's no way to be sure how it happened, but it's something to think about, and it depends on how much it costs too.

I was refering to other CF also, (hood, trunk). The lip doesnt really matter. I just wanted ot know if CF is painted, what would it look like?

Carbon fiber doesn't flex well at all. It CRACKS. If it doesn't crack, you get fissures running in different directions. At that point, its just a matter of time till it falls apart.

Something that is prone to parking curbs and stops, I would not want to be CF.

If CF is painted white it is white, black it is black, blue it is blue...looks like how it would come out of the factory.

i think CF would look awsome on a black or evergreen car where it wouldn't stand out from 1/2 a mile away... CF on a lighter color car looks dumb in my opinion...
also, painted CF looks like anthing thats painted... it's the color you paint it... is it just me or is that a dumb question...?

This is exactly why a CF lip is a great idea!!!! Carbon fiber wheels should be the next thing. Think of the weight savings!

they do have carbon fiber wheels.... for bikes... and in the beginning they did have a guge problem with them just exploding as you're going down the road, but now they've got it figured out to where they work just fine... hell, my friend's entire bike is made of CF, it weghs like 1/2 what mine does... i say they could easily figure out how to manufacture CF so that it is strong enogh to be used on any part of the car... even rims. if i am not mistaken, there is some supercar (dont remeber which) which is made primarely of CF... of course you have to realize that the quality of the CF in bikes and supercars is much higher than that which is used for the lip, but it should be a pretty tough little **** nonetheless.

You are correct, the Ferrari Enzo's entire chassis is made from carbon-fiber while it's body panels are a mixture of carbon-fiber and aluminium.

How much is each CF wheel? I would imagine pretty expensive.

I will add my .02 by saying that C/F is a very beautiful work of art, what other material out there besides say Diamonds, and Wood Grain are so intricate, and special. The look of a C/F hood or part is very sexy, very unique and should be respected. Sometimes these parts may not look good on all cars, or on every location where applied, but sometimes, I think the general thing with C/F is money, and this is just like when people talk about Jordans, like ohh this one is ugly and that one is ugly, most likely is cuz you never owned a pair, or never could afford a pair, now I am not talking about you in particular, but evaluate yourself in this situation. Do you have the disposable income to buy a C/F hood, trunk, eyelids, blah blah blah, if so then I would respect your opinion, but when you don't have it sometimes you say everything in the world about how ugly it looks, and why its rice, and blah blah blah. let me know, hell let us all kno.

No, I don't have the income to buy any or all of those parts, but if I did I would buy a C/F hood, and Trunklid, thats about it, maybe a dash kit, no more. I don't even like it for weight reduction, I like it for its look. Its sex appeal.

Holla.
