Crashed my Max.. !!!
i crashed my max..it was totally my fault..jsut rear ended someone going 30ish. damn old school trucks with steal bumpers.. nothing happened to his truck, jsut lil dents. were not going through insurance. he jsut said buy him a new bumper. what a cool guy. couple hundred bucks..... i was looking at a new text message, thats why my eyes were off the road. let the flamming begin..ill have pics up soon.i need opinions on what i should do.
Damage report
-from what i can see.. no frame damage. but bumper mount/support and brace are gone..
-driver side healight gone..
-subframe bar that headlights attach onto is bent to heck
-need 1 new driver side fender..
-hood is a warped.
-i checked car for leaks.. none..so im almost positive there is no internal under the hood damage.
tentative plans now..
-new 97+ bumper..do they make a generic one that is cheaper than a real nissan one? if so..link me.
-will a Carbon fiber hood be cheaper than buying a new one? if so.. please tell me where i can get one..
-97+ headlights. ill black them out later.. anyone selling?
or jsut stop modding altogether???
thanks for any other suggestions.
on a side note... airbag to teh face friggin hurts!!!!.. but i guess steering wheel to the face would hurt more..

Are you sure you don't want to go through insurance? From you post I see your airbags went off (im assuming both of them). They are $$$$$$$$$$$$. Your car might be close to being totaled if you hit him going 30 MPH.

on the airbags!!!
you might have to do some modifications to the 97 bumper for it to fit.
see what kind of quote the body shop gives you (if you take it to one) and also check out

First off, glad your ok. I know EXACTLY what taking an airbag to the face/arms feels like. Mine sounded like a gun going off. The hot powder is what really hurts.
Anyways...from your damage report, your looking at ALOT of money man. Being your car is a 95 and not worth much (what, 5000 if that?) its damn close to being totalled, especially with the airbag/s going off. Those things are really pricey. All together...
Hood ~200-500
Bumper ~100-300
Lights ~ 100-200??? Shot in the dark....
Fender ~ no clue? 100-200??
Airbags ~ 500-1000
Paint/Labor- 1000-1200?
So thats a guestimate of anywhere from 3000-4400 of just pure guessing. Thats damn near the total mark man. Heres something to take in, just to replace my door skin, molding, pinstripe and paint it came out to 1500 bucks. Heres a pic of the damage
As you can see, nowhere near the extent of yours im imagining....
Good luck man...
Eric

found someone to buy hood off for 100 bucks local pickup.. yesss
someone is selling a painted bumper for 265 shipped.. this s good deal if i plan on givig to my body shop to put on for me after they fix everything?
im going to a body shop.. wil it be cheaper if i can find bumper, fender hood for them..tell them to fix all teh under body panel stuff that is messed up..then have them put the used/cheaper bumper hood and fender i found.
whats the most cost efficient?

You need to get some parts off of a rear ended Maxima. You need used parts to make this cost effective. I'd replace the airbags. I think they are fairly cheap on Ebay. Ideally you could get the body parts in your color, but you might not find them.

Max Noob, I am interested in your RSB if you part out. I hope that everything works out though. I just had a wreck myself. I got rear-ended Saturday night. I had three estimates yesterday, and the average between them was like $1300. They are going to have to get a slight bow out of the rear panel between the door and back window and then probably paint it. I have to get a new bumper, absorber, and bar that holds bumper on rear. Sucks. I feel your pain.
