I consider myself a conservative driver. My take offs are seldom over 3500 RPM. The most RPM's I have ever pushed my Max is about 5000. I am intrested on how my fellow Max enthusiasts drive.

horrible...

i always accelerate hard and normally take it up to 4-4.5k rpms. when i race, i take it up to about 6.2k rpms. im real tough on my clutch during normal driving conditions. i dont think my clutch will last more than another year if im lucky. im sorry to say, but i abuse my max.

I drive pretty hard. There is rarely a trip across town where I dont push WOT at some point. I like to feel the surge of VQ torque so even when driving slow, I like to lean on it a little. I still manage about 20 mpg around town, so that's fine with me.

I drive miserly

I shift at 3,000 in first, 2,750 on second, 2,500 on third, and fourth. I'm always the first off the line at a stop light, but get blown away when I shift to second. When I'm pissed off, in the mood to race, or when I have to, I go all out on the car. On average I get about 28 MPG and I put on 440 miles by the time I fill up. I also try to minimize stopping by timing the lights and leaving space between the car in front in freeway traffic.

I drive like a bastard, I'll admit it. I take my car to redline daily, and also hit my speed limiter at least once a day! I guess I'm a testament to how much abuse the VQ can take! Almost 70k miles, and still purrs like day one!

I never drive hard until the temp guage is in the middle of the range. Then I take off light from lights and drive pretty conservatively. However, I am a big fan of flooring the car when getting onto highways, and tend to make my passes on the highway at WOT, especially when I am near any trucks. I've only gotten it to redline twice, when I showed my friend how badly spaced the autos gear ratios were. He was as amazed as I was that you could actually hit 80 in second gear. Car runs amazingly smooth though, except the 1-2 shift when the tranny is cold. I'm at 84500 miles now, and hope that I can take it to over 100000, unless I get my S4 or GS430 before that.

Skinny tires

My GXE only has 205/65/15 tires so I can't give it gas too hard in 1st or second or the tires just spin. Kind of annoying... That said I rarely wind out 1st or 2nd and sometimes do 3rd when entering the highway. At 100k and original clutch (replaced at 8,000 miles under warranty) , brakes. etc... I figure I'mmore on the conservative side but with so much power, revving to 3000 rpm in town is flying....

The majority of the time I: anticipate stops and coast as much as possible, try to time lights to get the greens when there are a bunch in a row, take off slow and smooth, once at highway speeds then my driving style changes a little to: usually at least 10 MPH above speed limit, keep safe distances from those in front; mostly a left lane driver (my wife hates that)leading the pack, will change lanes on 3 plus lane roads to get around slower traffic, will ocassionally punch it for a short distance to get around others then let off and coast back to my normal speed in the left lane. I drive very aware of surroundings and don't use a radar detector. I'm thinking I should get one but the technology just keeps changing.

I love it when once of the above highway manuvers motivates another driver to go even faster around me giving me (probably) a false sense of security that he'll get caught speeding before I do. I never race these people I just follow them when speeds are reasonable - 80 to 100

I'll admit that I drive like an old lady

I have an automatic and my shifts are between 2500 to 3000 most of the time. I guess I don't have the ***** to push it hard because I'm afraid something my go wrong later on. I've floored the car only once while going up a hill. It went all the way to redline and I was surprised how smooth it was the whole time.

With this marvelous engine, it is tempting to push the car hard but I love my Max and I am going to baby it until the day we part.

Very erratic!!

Around town I take off fast from lights. Love to feel the power of the smoothest V-6 in the world.

On the highway I like I tend to flow w/traffic. I like quick push you back in your seat take off better than top speed.

I fear my automatic tranny is going to quit soon. How can I tell? When it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the RPMS normally go up and then drop down. Does this mean the tranny is slipping?

As far as gas mileage I get around 22MPG.

With exception of my auto tranny...I'm the same way when driving on a daily basis. To me, gas is just too expensive to be romping on the gas pedal from light to light in the city. On the highway, I just cruisea at 75 to 80...anything faster is a waste...and puts you at greater risk of getting a ticket. I wasn't like this when I was in college driving my '89 Mustang GT...I guess with age, comes wisdom and patience.

I used to drive pretty fast and would pass people; now I only pass when neccasary & just stay in the fast lane on the interstate. I noticed weaving and all that gets you no where.

Everyday I come home from work there's a weaver, and everyday I see them either pulling away from a toll booth half way home because they don't have ipass, or at the same stoplight as me off the interstate.

I always use my blinker too, I originally didn't that much, until I noticed that when people don't its pretty annoying.

Very easy

I try to do a 6K neutral drop as often as possible. I then do burn-outs at every light.... Seriously, I drive rather normal(I guess an auto will do that to you). I do on occasion drop the hammer on Hondas and Toyotas... They are fun to taunt. Other than than average around 26 MPG.

Depends on who my passanger is

If I'm driving anyone who is a generation older than me, then I drive like an old lady.

If I'm driving with my friends or GF, I drive a little more aggressively. (They all think that I'm a maniac)

When I'm alone, I dive hard almost all the time. I never let anyone beat me at a light or drive faster than me on the highway. Like someone else said, it's a weird sickness. I didn't always drive like this though. When I had my old honda's, I tried, but I couldn't. hehe. But, I always signal, and I never cut people off. It pisses me off too much when I see someone else do it for me to ever be the culprit of someone elses aggrivation. Most people on the road need a glass belly-button to see what they're doing while their heads are up their A$$e$

I used to drive a lot harder when i just got the car...

When I just got it, I only had my license for about 2 months, but I was driving from way before that.. The car was seeing 4-5k rpm's daily, out of stupidity I did a few neutral drops, also floored it or redlined it a bunch of times.. a transfer from a 140 hp 87' Mercury Sable to a 190 hp Max seemd to me as if I was wrong if I wouldn't push it.... This went on for about 2 months, Then my allready dying tranny finally passed (RIP tranny) After the rebuilt, being 1,300$ poorer I was driving like they teach you in driving school for over a month, then loosened up again, I just redlined it today, but this is maybe the 4th or 5th time in last 6 months.. I get a temptation to push it when its great sunny weather outside or sometimes at night... But my auto usually shifts at 2,000-3,500 rpms..

If I didn't live in NYC I'd think of picking up a 5spd next, but people say its a major PIA, 5spd's are more durable and less expensive to fix then a auto tranny rebuilt... plus its faster
