Buick Riviera...wtf?
Buick Riviera...wtf?
okay so i'm cruising along minding my own business on my way to a dentist appointment when i see this buick pass this truck really fast going UP a hill. i think to myself (WTF?!?!?) so i follow him a little ways and line up at a light. i was hooping hed go from a roll becasue i have the crappiest tires imaginable and i knew i would spin forever. sure enough he took off from the light and i droped the clutch at about 1400rpms and spun forever and ever while he gained 4 cars on me. when i finally let off the gas to grab traction he had slowed down enough that we could get side by side but now there was too much traffic ahead to race. the car turned out to be a supercharged buick riviera 2 door. how fast are these things? would i have a chance agaist one if i could get traction? it looked like something my grandma used to drive.....

Hey Trev...guess what...
My girlfriend drives one. Jet black, jet black windows, chrome wheels, supercharged. People say "Buick!" and scoff, but I'd drive it any day of the year. It's damn quick, even though it's heavy, plus...it's hella luxurious. Leather, power everything, heated seats, I love it. Maybe someday I'll have her come out to KCIR so she can smoke me and you!

I was just saying...'95 models compared, the Buick is definitely a more luxurious car, without sacrificing any power, although probably reliability.

That engine is the 3800 series supercharged motor from the grand prix gtp...Its weight is a disadvantage...but all teh performance parts such as smaller pulleys, intakes...etc that fit on the grand prix engine work on this one. Some are making 280 plus at the wheel with smaller pullies and exhaust..Dont underestimate the power of a buick or a crystal burger...
My friend has a 96. Only raced him once and I was driving my aunt's 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He smoked me badly. The early speed limiter sucks though.
I personally prefer the Buick Regal GS. Same supercharged engine, but lighter and faster. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds.

How else would you expect a fine American pushrod engine to break that elusive 60 HP/L barrier without some form of forced inducation!

Do you get upset every time you see a car with more power than you? I feel bad for her, she's having problems at 100,000 miles that I'm sure I'll never have with the Maxima for at least a couple hundred thousand.p.s. I'm doubting the reason your girlfriend drives an Altima is because you wouldn't be able to stand it if her car was faster than you...I bet if she have a Cavalier, which we all know can whoop you, you'd still be dating her.
Re: Re: Re: Hey Trev...guess what...
Sad
I am not under the illusion that our cars are the fastest or the lightest, but I've ran against SC'd Rivs several times. They have never posed any such threats as you guys post. A very good friend Billy has put his car against mine before I had a Y-pipe and couldn't walk on me. This is when I could barely push 16 sec 1/4's with my K&N and MOMO rims. Unless you have a 4th gen and an auto, you shouldn't have any problems. I would go as far as to say against a RIV you should be able to let your Girl friend drive against it without problems.
FLIP SIDE
They do have a cush ride and I you have to love any car that when you hear the phrase "To the bat-mobile" you look for a black RIV
