Fuel starvation

I have serious jerking and hesitation for the last 4 months when my fuel tank is at 1/4 or below. It usually happens when I'm coming out of hard turn at an interchange at (WOT) WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. It happens when I'm getting on the highway on an uphill on ramp and on level ground at 1/8 tank. Once again WOT only. I have most of the N/A mods including Technosquare ECU, Y-pipe, cat-back, UDP, frankencar mid pipe, ground wires and a prototype ram air. Why am I starving for fuel? Is it some kind of fuel pick-up problem? fuel pump? or could it be my fuel guage is reading incorrectly? The last time I filled up I had 1/4 tank and I got 13 gallons of gas in the car.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be the problem? I would appreciate any suggestions.

that happens to me too, the maxima is not very good at scooping every last drop of fuel from the bottom of the tank when its below 1/8...! i think its just a design flaw...don't worry about it....as long as it doesn't happen all the time meaning only when the car is at or below 1/8 tank and you are at WOT

It happened to me on my previous car. There were very fine debris in the gas tank, clogging the fuel intake. As the gas volume lowered, the debris would be more concentrated, and the hesitation problem worsened. The garage I took the car to first replaced the fuel pump. The problem remained of course. I took the car back, second time they saw all the debris at bottom of the tank. The car was 14 years old.

so remove the tank and clean it out? i don't think so...just replace your feul filter and put in bottle of stp or techron in your gas tank!

I have been told it's not a good idea to let your gas tank to get so low. The gas actually acts as a lubricant for the fuel pump. I used to let my honda accord get real low and eventually had to replace the fuel pump.

I know that keeping your tank full is impossible, but fuel pumps are expensive, so refuel at about 1/4 of a tank when possible. Just some friendly advice.

At that point I sold the car and told the new owner he had to change the gas tank, which he did, and that solved the problem. The whole tank was contaminated.

Gasoline is not a lubricant to the fuel pump. Gasoline is a strong solvent.

Gasoline acts as a coolant to the fuel pump as it recirculates through the pump, to the engine bay, and back in the gas tank.
